Nibbler Super eXtra

I'm looking for the full version too. I found the fully registered version of Super Nibbler Extra though, which is another decent game by Backyard Brothers (snake game). Can upload it to The Zone/FTP if anyone is interested (only demo on Aminet).

I sent you a PM on YouTube recently? What would it be about?

Anyway, uploaded the Nibbler game to the FTP: ~Uploads/hipoonios/registered_games/Nibbler Super Extra (1997)(Backyard Brothers)(Registered)(v.1.90)[cr LSD].lha

1.. Assign NSX: is needed
2.. Game is too big to fit on a floppy. Maybe someone can create a HDF

Is that comment directed at me?

Yes, I can definitely make a self-booting / bare-bones .HDF

...but, thought I'd see if I can make an .ADF first.

Done!!!

I skipped showing:

a) NSX-Guide
b) NSX-GuideRegistered

...but there's plenty more room on the disk if you want these included?

Anyway, tested levels 1-3 and all good as far as I can see

Now it's up to you "Gamemaster" hipoonios to give it a whirl and report any issues

Nice find, the graphics for the game look very slick.

BTW; the game will run on "ECS" but needs at least a "KS ROM v2.04 (A500+) rev 37.175 (512k).rom"...

I see you crunched the data files. How is that possible? Guess you did not use CrunchyDat for that?

Played to second world using your ADF and it seems to work fine. Will continue later and see if I can play all to the end.

Think this is one of the better snake games for the Amiga. The only thing I don't like is the input delay.

No unfortunately you cannot use CrunchyDat for this task.

I used Crunch-Mania V1.91t for the data files.

Strange, if you try to HD install your disk, it does not want to work, says error loading Data01.

Not really strange, did you run "RTDD" before launching the game?

This is required to unpack the data files crunched with CrunchMania...

Anyway, if you're running from HDF then just use the original package here:

.. and don't forget the NSX: assign (the installer does not add it)

Man, this never ends! I'm on world 23 now. I'm really impressed by the amount of graphics and levels in this game. Every world has its own graphics and there are Christmas, Pac-Man, Spectrum levels etc...

Gameplay is not that good though, but it is more playable if you set the speed to slow or slower in options (seems not be a CPU thing).

Ah yes, forgot to mention that.

...mind you, I didn't need to do this with the .ADF version as I named the disk "NSX"

I can see that input lag in this game. Such a shame as it is a fast game which requires quick moves.

Yeah, tried setting as "Slow" and this improves the input delay (obviously as the snake is moving slower)

Maybe ross can look into / patch?

Yes, this runs way too fast even on the slowest setting. So it would be nice to have a fixed version.

BTW, the correct title of the game is Nibbler Super Extra. So change the title of the thread please

So you've finished this already?

...was this using the .ADF that I created so it's 100% working / verified?

Thread title changed accordingly but I did see somewhere "Nibbler Super eXtra".

Yup, your ADF worked all to the end!

It's really hard to tell since all text in game is in uppercase. But both Aminet, their old site and the manual referring to EXtra. So it must be the correct title. Thanks! I'll correct it in HOL.

Agreed, it is hard to tell.

If you quit / exit the game you see this though:

A bit of topic. There is another Nibbler game called Nibbly. I have always wondering if this was Commercial or if it was PD/Freeware. So I tracked down the author and this is what he said (on highscore.com):

Quote:
The game was never sold. It's a demo i made in 1985 or 86 for the company infomedia. I lost the source code and most of my amiga floppy disks are unreadable. It's really strange to see that there are more players today than there were 30 years ago.
Nibbly already have an entry on Lemon Amiga. Game is not so good, but maybe worth add to HOL as UNRELEASED.
