Same here. For those of you wondering, it's possible to turn the machine on and move a lengthened piece of wire over the points to work out which one you need to use. As soon as it matches the LED on the CF adapter itself will come alive so you don't need to move your head (and risk losing the connection) to look at the Miggy's LED board. EDIT: I suppose you need to be careful here, I only swapped between the two points in question on either side of the built in LED so don't go swapping between anything and everything!

Borrowed an Iroda 50 gas iron off a mate at work and after testing a few points on a dead A500 mobo this was my first effort. A bit rough but it's solid and works a treat.

Hi,

No takers on how to achieve this on a revision H0 adapter?

Thanks,

Ross.

I was glad to find this thread - now I 've got HDD LED light as well!

This is the fix for my version, I choose to take the shortest route I could find instead of a long wire along the side.

The LED is connected to the two points shown with yellow in picture 2.
For my adapter I got the correct function when using the farthest away point of the LED, this end is connected to the resistor package so all that was needed to do was a jumper where the red line is.

Last picture shows the soldered wire, I used a wire from one of those 80 wire IDE cables.

Thanks for this simple mod!

"One mod to rule them all..."?

So far I can read that people either don't need this mod, because their adapters already work properly or their led doesn't work at all.
I have a different issue: My adapter LED is constantly on. I doesn't even flicker during disk operations. It goes on as soon as power is applied and stays on till power is lost.
The (A600) cover HD LED doesn't light though...

Will this mod help me?

Sorry to bring up a old thread, but if I'm reading this right I need to connect up the +5 side of the onboard led to pin 39 of the ide connector?

Anything else needed?

Thanks.

Later,

Pins and volts? ... too technical!

Try this..

If that fails to work, solder a wire here instead..

Finally got to do the mod, I was postponing till I decided that I really need to know when my CF HD is being accessed.
I have the same CF converter and my HD LED was not working since the beginning, I did the mod and it works now, saved me $8.
The hardest part was disassembly.
Thanks

Skippy this was probably your problem too, as you cant test an led with a mutimeter in resistance mode(ohms), you should have it in diode test(voltage drop)!

Yepp, this was problem with my CF adapter, too!
Fixed as suggested and works just fine now.
THANK YOU.

Yes, my adapter is very similar to the one in the original post, except mine has a straight 44-pin connector. It was the cheapest I could find on ebay.

If you post some good pics of your adapter (both sides) when you get it, we might be able to see how to apply the mod on that one as well, as they're all quite similar.

My problem: the A600 HDD led flashes all the time when using a CF adapter. Quiet the opposite problem.

I know Kipper2k has a jumper on his CF adapter which, if not shorted when a CF card is inserted, will cause the LED to flash like that. I'm guessing it's a floating node which needs to be pulled high/low?

Hm that's a new batch of problems... First we have no LED light, now we have LED all the time.

Is CF LED on also, or only Amiga HDD LED ?

Didnt seen any LED on adapter.
I checked small manual that was with adapter
and they mention various revisions for adapters.
Most of them have only LED for "Active" function,
while one have also LED for "Power/Detect"
So i guess i have adapter with only "Active" LED.
