I have just found my OS4.1 final edition cd in this mess after setting up my A4000T. (it was packed before the final edition was released). It was working with the old OS 4.1 (was the final update5 I think). Now I get this error:

get_descriptor (len 8) failed. packet overflow (7)
device enumeration failed, sorry.
root hub enumeration failed.

Did anyone experience similar problems after installing OS 4.1 FE ? It is working with OS 3.9.

EDIT: I think I might have fixed the problem since it's now working although I got some errors in the log:
(
warning - hid.class - using OS4 IND_ADDEVENT workaround to fix some mouse and keyboard problems.
warning - hid.class - SET_IDLE=0 failed: endpoint stall (4)!
)

What I did was to add the device to compatibility prefs and disable jit.

Since Alenppc from Canada has no issues, it may be interesting what 68040 library and maybe what MMU tools he has installed. The RapidRoad driver does make use of Thor's MMU library if it's installed. It may do some more things "better" than the Commodore libs.

Thor's MMU stuff is available for free on Aminet:
http://aminet.net/package/util/libs/MMULib

Hi Jens,

Since the initial testing I have upgraded the system to a 68060 (phase5) so it's going be a bit hard to say which version of the 68040.library I was using at that point. I did have MMU libs from Aminet installed however.

Can I ask if this 040 issue affects all 040 CPUs or is it only in a stock A3640 card? I have a WarpEngine 4040 coming so I'd like to know if I will have the issue with that as well.

You should be fine mate, it was working fine with my WE040

I do have some issues with devices dropping out at the moment but I think it might be something in setup (I need to experiment) if you remember it worked perfectly when I first installed it, you were here.

Could even be a power issue in my case as you know my A4k is pretty well loaded and only a stock PSU.

If I run mine in ZIII mode the USB stack hangs the Amiga if I try and disable it. It does not do this in ZII mode but I still get the drop out's either way, fixed by a powercycle in ZII mode but again locks up in ZIII mode if I try and powercycle.

I really need to spend some proper time with it!

Ah OK thanks Steve, so basically I still need to run the X-Surf in ZII mode with the WE4040 then by the sounds of it?

Not necessarily. Only if you have problems in ZIII mode.

I think you will probably be fine

Mind the wording: They *were* interesting, but are not any longer, as ripple voltage specifications were changed for the bad. I don't know the exact reason: They have either had complaints that the PSUs did not comply with the specs, or they have changed something in the design to make it cheaper.

Very interested in something that replaces the standard A500/A600/A1200 PSU.

In the works - I'll probably show it at the 30-year Amiga celebrations in Amsterdan in june.

I have trouble reproducing the Z3 problems with 3640 in an A4000. Everyone who has this combination - no matter if it works or not - please send me an eMail with the following information:

- what type/version of 68040 library do you use?
- what version of Thor's MMU library do you use (if any)?

thanks,
Jens

Will you be taking some items to sell at Amiga30 in Amsterdam?

I may be interested in X-Surf + Rapidroad for an A3000 with 3640 that is being refurbished for me at the moment. But only if I can return them if they don't work in ZIII mode. Or should just wait for the new version of the X-Surf

I assume the PSU you'll bring to Amsterdam will be a proof of concept, not yet production purchasable version?

Jens (or anyone else), I have this issue with the A3640 I currently use and would like to help, any chance you could let thick stupid people like myself know how to go about finding out a) where these library files are and b) how to determine the versions of them?

Thanks

Libraries are located in the Libs drawer (open shell, type dir Libs:).
Library version can be determined with Version command (open shell, type version Libs:68040.library).

@hese, assuming most people are using normal C= 68040 libs, is there a better library to get?
