Can I make WinUAE faster? (loading time and such)

Is there anyway to get a faster startup and loading time on WinUAE?

If anyone has played like SNES roms youre probably familiar with the turbo button where you can speed up the game youre playing.

I mean, on an emulator, does it really have to take as long time to load up a game as it did on an actual Amiga?

Well, there's the floppy disk speed slider which can help in a lot of games! Doesn't work with all disks though.

I wouldn't recommend using the floppy speed slider, you're much better off using warp mode (press end+break on the keyboard).

The essential difference between SNES and Amiga is the fact that the SNES was cartridge based and obviously the miggy was/is floppy based(with regards to booting up the Amiga had to load the OS from either floppy or hard drive{much like current Windows} and as such it takes longer than the SNES. Belgarth is absolutely correct in using the Warp mode...I've found it more reliable than using the slider.

If you mean by speeding up the Amiga above and over 100% emulation speed, I haven't noticed a switch or button that can do that and would it be required??

Look for the Warpmode in the input list, you can map it to your joystick/joypad.

And for practially instant loading times, use WHDLoad versions of the games instead of lousy floppies!

On winuae i copied over my workbech and work partitions from my a1200 32mb o60. This took around a minute or 2 to fully load from the HD on my a1200 with my iconx progs and magicwb add ons. On winuae with an 040 8mb chip 63mb fast and cpu set to fastest and 8mb JIT it loads up in literally seconds! around 10 so that is a LOT faster loadin wise. Some games work in TURBO floppy mode, others prefer to be at 100% floppy speed.

WHDLoad sucks, .ipf's rock.

Perfect images of original games, that's where it's at!

What do you think WHDLoad images are then? They are perfect rips from the games. And you don't have to worry about protection, and you get extras like trainers and instant loading. IPF's do suffer from the problem that if the original game is faulty, so is the image. (eg. Summer Camp has corrupt music, many games crash due to access faults etc).

You're clearly a buffoon if you think WHDLoad sucks.
