another annoying winuae crash

hi!

i searched this really nice forum for this, but i didn't find anything about the problem. so i decided to ask for some help here.

my problem is, when i want to switch between winuae 1.5.2 and windows XP SP3 the emulator crashes. it doesn't matter whether "pause emulation" or "disable sound" is enabled or disabled.

is it a known bug?

it would be great to be able to switch to windows for looking up something in the internet or something like that.

hopefully you can help.

i use......

dell notebook with nvidia 8600m gt
windows xp sp3

perhaps my last .dmp and the winuaebootlog will help.............

sincerely

Hi,

Go under the emulation options, Miscellaneous and check "Create log file".

Run the emulation, and after the crash, submit that log file as well. (winuaelog.txt)

Regards.

Switching between = ALT-TAB? In windowed or in fullscreen or both?
Even when in A500 conguration "insert disk" screen?

This does not make sense. Something has corrupted CPU emulator's instruction pointers..

Run winuae with -minidumpmode 3 ("winuae.exe -minidumpmode 3") and crash it again. This should create better (and much bigger) dump file.

hi.

yes, ALT-TAB (or middle mouse button)
i just checked it and surprisingly in windowed mode the problem doesn't occur (just tried it several times).
I didn't realised so far, because i normally use fullscreen mode.

is there a way to make it work in fullscreen mode also?

i created a "minidump 3" file. it is about 90 MB. even packed about 12MB.

it's much to big for uploading.....

it was made out of the a500 "insert disk" screen.

thanks a lot for helping.

regards

I agree with webhead, never had a problem with any version of WinUAE crashing from your descriptions and I'm on XP SP3 too, although a different system

During the time spent investigating the bug, you could use the new Fullscreen Window mode, which is a mix between full screen and window mode. Alt+Tab will certainly work in this mode too.

hi and thanks to all of you.

i did some testing and it seems that the problem doesn't occur when disabling the "cycle-exact" option.

unfortunately few things need this option.

do you get crashes when enabling the "cycle-exact" option, too?

regards and thanks.

Display driver version? (new enough?)
Does it crash if you use different fullscreen resolutions or color depth?

EDIT:

Same if null filter is enabled?
