My Amiga Files

Hey guys I'm planning on sorting out my Hard drives and buying a new 1tb drive.. tho I do want to remove a lot of the crap I have already got..

Currently my Amiga folders are about 200gb and I know some of it is dupe shite.. What is the best way to sort this lot out, remove the dupe stuff and get rid of the kak?

Any advice would be appreciated

Yeah, I know, I've got only a 60GB big Ami hd but even thinking about sorting all this stuff scares me
I got seperate partitions for WHDLoad games, demos, "normal" games demos, scene stuff, backup, temp and system, lol, and it wasn't that hard
Maybe just leave everything how it is, get a new hd and than, what's needed and when needed - copy the contents to the new one?

Well I'm gonna delete all non amiga stuff (well put it on DL discs anyway) and then remove all films *cough* and other stuff..

Then I'm gonna go thru amiga stuff and see if I can find dupes etc and delete. then re-organise HD folders so I can reopen BippyFTP

I also have issues with getting all my stuff organised, though I have started cleaning up

At the moment there's files on:

a) 20Gb laptop HDD
b) 30GB laptop HDD
c) 40GB external USB HDD
d) 300GB external USB HDD
e) 400GB external USB HDD

I'm not even going to mention all the CDs / DVDs

200GB eh? Nice collection...
Well, you could just not sort it and open BippyFTP and a small webserver where people can flag up files then you sort them as they get reported

I've got about 60GB of zipped adfs and I considered that quite large... I take my hat off to you and your superior collection lol

There's software out there to find and remove duplicate files. I doubt that's going to be very satisfying though. Probably not smart enough to dedupe inside archive files (and would you trust them to do it right?).

Pains me to say it, but semantic web tools would really help to collaboratively manage retro files. Probably less than 5% of your retro files are unique to you.

Duplicate Finder is what I usually use to find junk clogging my HD. But you need that extra bit of memory (512MB should do it).
