Announcing AmiDeb - An Amiga Emulator system.

What is AmiDeb:

AmiDeb is a bare-bones Linux install with just enough to run FS-UAE.

It is *NOT* Amilator, but is based on the idea's of Amilator.

Ruining a Text based front end, FS-UAE is then launched for your Amiga
experience.

Mounting of a real CD-Rom/DVD from the host is supported. (See A3000
config.)

As AmiDeb uses FS-UAE, all features of FS-UAE on Linux are
available.

Mounting of real Amiga formatted Hard drives.

Access to the /amiga partition via the network share (Exposes the FS-UAE directory's for the ROM's/ADF's etc.

Tools on the Linux side: nano (Editor), mc (Midnight Commander [File
Manager]), linux network tools.

Basic Amiga configs are setup for the A500/2000 and the Amiga 1200. These use
the built in Kickstart of FS-UAE and will boot to "Amiga Test Kit"

The configs for the Amiga 3000/4000 have examples of using more options in line with a real Amiga. The Amiga 3000 configuration is a copy of my real Amiga 3000 setup, and is used in my personal testing of the system.

The config for the Amiga 4000 OS 4.1 is a real working setup of Amiga OS 4.1. (only the config file is supplied), this configuration uses the beta 3.2.11 version of fs-uae due to bugs related to OS 4.1 and networking.

At the end of the installation of AmiDeb you have a real Debian Linux
system, with the benefit of being able to update and customise the system.

so you are running FS-UAE in window mode or something? FS-UAE cant use winlaunch so you wont be overlapping chromium or any other linux apps over the emulation, so that means eather a lot of alt/tabbing or running FS-UAE in window mode? or?

Nice, thanks for sharing. Did something similar based on a default RPiOS Debian system and Amiberry on the emulation side called Emiga. Not as barebone or minimal on the Linux side, but similar idea

Yes. I have noticed a lot of people complain that "Amilator" couldn't be updated. So sat down and though how to make a system like amilator, but with the ability to make changes and update it.

AmiDeb was the end result.

Nice to have all the different flavours of emulated Amiga systems out there. Keep up the good work.

Good job vk3heg, a user of Aros-exec recommended to modify the config "AROS-One.fs-uae" (mouse_integration=0), so that windows can be moved and resized, you also notice other improvements with AROS One 68k.

Given that this runs Linux which has better support for custom resolutions, can this be pre-configured to output 240p via VGA eg like an option menu for VGA or CRT and then remember selection for next time? I'm keen on getting native resolution on CRT with something that 'auto boots'.

The resolution is set within the FS-UAE/Amiga environment. I've ran my setup at native Amiga PAL and RTG resolutions with the system remembering those settings just like any normal Amiga setup does.,

What do you mean by "better support for custom resolutions" ?
In comparison to what?
I have 320x200, 320x256, 640x200, 640x256, 320x400, 320x512, 1280x200, 1280x256, 1280x400, 1280x512, 360x288, 360x288, 360x576, 720x288, 720x576, and so on and so forth (basically every single screenmode supported by Amiga chipset plus overscan versions) custom resolutions setup on Windows so I can take advantage of them within WinUAE.
My monitor crt monitor is very flexible, but its super simple to create all these resolutions within Windows, so Im not really sure what you're saying here.

Hi.

Got this working with nvidia drivers, 50Hz smooth scrolling. However I cant get audio to work through FS-UAE. Audio is working with this test :-

aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Noise.wav

but no sound in FS-UAE.

Any ideas?

Was getting exciting thinking this was for the Raspberry pi. FS-UAE is the best Amiga Emulator but I can't get it running on Raspberry pi correctly as it just shows a black screen.

Audio config for FS-UAE?

AmiDeb is for Intel/AMD 64Bit CPU's. It even states this in the AmiDeb.txt file & website:

2: Requirements.

64Bit CPU, from Intel or AMD.

Well if I recall correctly, you have to use xrandr to create a custom modeline within Linux? If that is not required and this could output 240p natively, then simply connecting my PC via my UMSA VGA to SCART adapter should output a true pixel-perfect image of Amiga on my CRT?

There is no need to use a USB memory stick, as the /amiga partition is exposed via samba on the network. There is no desktop and no plans to add it myself. The system would then bloat out to much. (The initial install is 1.6-8 gb in size now).

The idea of AmiDeb was to make a system with no un-needed overheads.

In saying that, as it's a real installed Debian linux system, you have the ability to add/change anything in the system.
