Let me respond this question for now:

The game requieres 3 MB of RAM at the moment. 1 MB Chip is a must but even this requirement is still under development. It's very promising as most parts of the game fits into 1 MB Chip (but not all and this is something I'm working on. We're speaking of graphics and music/sfx of course, not the code itself because it's much bigger and that's why we need more RAM). Even Amigas with 2 MB Chip will need other memory (Slow or Fast [the latter recommended]). The game is big and complex. That's all I can say at the moment.

Ah, I've seen someone suggesting that this might be an FMV game. Quick answer to it is: NO

Thank you all and be positive
If RAM requirements are so high, why haven't you considered making it an AGA game since the beginning? More than 1 MB of Chip Ram is not very common amongst ECS users and in such case trying to adapt yourselves to the slower chipset is rather an effort not worth dealing with. If you think of requirements higher than 1 MB of Chip RAM you should completely forget about ECS chipset.

You have statistics to back this up? All my ECS systems have 2MB of Chip RAM.and typically quite a bit of Fast RAM too.

I think that poll would be nice to back this up. The statement comes from my observation but of course I might be wrong.

Most of my machines have 1MB or 2MB. Hopefully this will change soon.

I would also say that there are no good reasons for an ESC game to not run just fine on AGA too, it may even do some hardware detection and enable more features on AGA.

The viseo has nothing to do with game graphics, as mentioned initially.

I assumed it might be a intro...

perhaps something like that could be integrated if RTG or (if possible) AGA is detected

I reckon this could be an intro, introducing player into the game's world and starting the story

Dear Amigans, the AQUABYSS official web page has been updated with a developer's minilog. You'll find there some new information.

Send a message via ICQ to Predseda
Seems like the game will be some trading strategy? Fastram requierement is okay for me.

inspiration for it was based on games like Sid Meier's Pirates!, Elite Frontier II, Freelancer, Aquanox
Oh that actually sounds interesting....

@AgedCode

Why announce something when you have nothing to show? IMHO this is perfect example of a bad advertising (see #phake5).

I wholeheartedly disagree. The video is great and gives me high hopes for the production values of the game itself. The inspiration mentioned only makes me more interested. Consider my appetite whetted...

Completely agree! I believe there is a lot to show and the situation with this one is so much different to the one that's been mentioned. As you can see we are getting more information, so there must be a plan

And I'm glad, that developers keep working on the game instead of talking about it

It seems that authors must have realised the story about Chip RAM and that ECS systems with more than 1 MB of Chip are less than common because they changed requirements in favour of Fast Ram.

Thank you for being supportive! A new log entry can be found on aquabyss.com

@Mailman - 1 MB Chip RAM was always the goal, nothing has changed.
