Comspec SA-1000 - no AutoBoot after loading KS from HD
I'm having an issue with the Comspec SA-1000 emulation. It supports loading Kickstart from the boot area of the HD and then autobooting Workbench. For me, it loads Kickstart 1.3 from the HD just fine (screen turns yellow, then green) but the HD does not boot. It just shows the usual "Workbench hand" screen. There is no activity on the HD at all. Usually if a ROM tries to autoboot an HD and fails, you will still see brief activity on the HD before it tries to boot from floppy.
If I boot the ComspecHD setup floppy at this point, it will detect and mount my boot drive just fine. Also, if I switch from SA-1000 to SA-2000 in my config, then start up and load KS 1.3 from floppy (or from ROM) the usual way, the HD will then boot. So, there seems to be some point in the normal boot process where Autoconfig detects and boots the HD that isn't happening when KS is loaded from the HD by the Comspec ROM. Has anyone else had this issue? Could it be a bug in the SA-1000 implementation? Or is there something I need to check in my config or HD setup process? I've attached my config and hdf here. I don't have Comspec SA-1000 prepared HD (KS embedded) anymore but I do remember that I wasn't sure how the hardware is supposed to behave. Perhaps mark_k remembers more

I have the hardware, unfortunately my A1000 isn't working at the moment, but when I get it fixed, I'd be happy to contribute.
How do I dump this "autoconfig nybble" and get it to you, Toni? |

I'm hoping to revive this thread here, and maybe even get working SA-1000 autoboot emulation incorporated into the next official WinUAE release coming up.
Durniplot, did you get your A1000 fixed? Does it still have a working SA-1000? Toni, what procedure should durniplot follow to obtain the autoconfig nybble you need in order to get autoboot to work after loading KS from the HD? Thanks to both of you! |

My A1000 is being repaired now, I hope to have it running again in the autumn.
