Using a WBPattern with more than 256 colors
Hi,
I've got a Pixel64 with 16bit PC 1024x768 screen mode on OS3.9 and I'm very happy with it. BUT when I try to use a png with more than 256 colors as a WBPattern image, the image is dithered and looks awful, whereas there are in theory 65536 colors available. Any idea? thanks |

Anyway, calling multiview on the image displays it perfectly, without any dithering. The dithering occurs when I try to configure the PNG picture as a WB pattern left: multiview, 65536 color PNG, superb. right: wb pattern, 256 color dithered shit (and yes, I tend to like this little animal too much but I don't want to risk unveiling more of my private life by showing you the rest of my family) |

try to save your image as IFF24 then load it as background. If the same happen then it's not PNG datatype's fault then goto 10...
Something must be mark as dithering = ordered, somewhere in your system as someone already suggest. AFAIR picture datatype and some other datatypes save some preferences in ENV: anyway good luck and long life to your cat You could also try to run a Scalos WB, i'm pretty sure you shouldn't meet any problems. Yep i know, it doesn't solve the real problem. |

I use an AGA OS 3.5 WB without a gfx card. Is there any combo of WB setting & utils I can use to get a perfectly displayed image on the WB background. I have already tried to set color/remaping to "BEST" in wbpattern. I would like a clear background image instead of a fuzzy dithered one. Also does anyone have a WB background with the Amiga boing & OS3.5 logo?
