Absolutely none, always too hard for me, but when I discovered MAME and those switches - it made me realise that you can configure difficulty setings. Always suspected that as a kid on some panel somewhere but finally seeing MAME made me realise this.

The owner at the bar replaced the Wonderboy in Monsterland cabinet for Black Tiger because people where playing for an hour using one credit. Same happend with Black Tiger so he increased the difficulty level. Suddenly all items in shops where about double the price hehe...I really miss those cabinets in bars everywhere around the corner

I finished Outrun2 and Outrun2 SP as well as Virtua tennis in the last few years on arcade.
Really wanted to finish Initial D, but it would of cost me hundreds, as you had to put more money in after every stage. Apart from the original outrun when I was 15 or so, Never got anywhere near finishing anything when I was younger. |

Flame thrower FTW.
I made longplays of these games a loooong time ago. Quality is pretty bad because I used Fraps to record back then. I oughta redo them using MAME's own png/wav output some time.. I had a Splatterhouse arcade longplay, but removed it because of Namco Bandai... Strangely enough the FM-Towns longplay never received any complaints from them (yet)... |

Well this isn't exactly the same thing but I was pretty good on defender... for 20 cents I could play as long as I like...
I remember running into a random fellow in CHCH city some 26 years ago and hooking up for a game of doubles... we gave the machine away after we'd played for 24 hours straight... Since then I always said my high score in defender was some 48 million... LOL |

Ok Slayer, that counts
Now I remember that I could finish Double Dragon, not sure it was with 1 credit, but with the elbow punch it was really very easy (and boring). So we always tried more challenging moves and got killed Now when playing on MAME I realize that most games I have played in my childhood were certainly set in "easy" mode to attract players, not disgust them. Easy was hard enough for any arcade game anyway. Playing with "medium" (which is MAME default) adds a lot of challenge (unable to finish OutRun for example: too many cars, not enough time) |

the question has to be, who completed an arcade game with one credit and successfully managed to chat up a chick whilst doing so!

I've finished SF2 and SF2CE with every character without continues. I've finished with Ryu and Ken without losing a match on SF2. Reminds me to dig out SF2 board and see if I can still do it with Dhalsim.

Marble Madness (official hiscore 146900, unofficial (as in didn't think to take a picture of the screen) 172300)
Super Mario Bros (was a bit thrown by the little differences... must have been a European version (c) Pulp Fiction) 'Looped' some shooters such as Scramble, Star Wars. I think I managed Karate Champ as well Hm, can't think of any more offhand. Great topic! Suggestion for another thread: "Top credit-munching arcade games"? Games that were very hard indeed but so awesome you kept feeding the machine cos you wanted more goodness |

Definately Splatterhouse, Double Dragon 2, Final Fight.
R-Type also IIRC. Too young to dig up chicks at that time . Was in the arcades from age six to around ten, eleven. |
