Kickstart 1.3 with scsi.device

Is there any modded kickstart 1.3 for A600 which supports the internal IDE connector?
I only use my A600 for old stuff, so I'd love to be able to boot into Workbench 1.3 from the HDD and run good old demos.

EDIT: THis might be a stupid question:
I have an EEPROM AMD 27C400 (512kB) with kick 3.1 in my A600, can I somehow run an app to reprogram the chip inside the Amiga? Or are the traces to the write pins missing or so? Missing hardware? :/

It is only a matter of using grabscsi (Aminet) and then using remus to add it to a custom 1.3 ROM.

Sorry to bring back this topic, but I'm looking for a patched KS 1.3 wich boots from A600's HD, too.

I have already got my scsi.device with grabscsi, but I don't even know what remus is, so I can't add it to my A500's KS 1.3.

KS 1.x is old stuff by now: maybe someone could upload a fine patched 1.3 to certain zone...

The patch file was lost, the host no longer works.
Also asking for a patched kickstart is against the rules.

Remus does'nt work with KS1.3.

Sorry for reviving this thread but I though it would be nice for peepz to know that today they uploaded on Aminet the lost archive

http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/kick13scsipatch

Just made a Kickstart 1.3 with the patched 43.45 scsi.device but need to test it out :P
Edit: I tested it under WinUAE and it seems to work just fine! (ofc I enabled A600/A1200 IDE emulation). With normal 1.3 ROM I get the Kickstart disk screen, and with the new one... HD boots into WB1.3 \o/

I tonight made the test to the real thing.

1st step:
I burned my custom Kickstart 1.3 + SCSI.device onto a 27C400 Eprom and installed it to one of my A600. Kickstart 1.3 screen booted just fine and really quick.

2nd step:
Mounted an 64MB CF card under WinUAE and booted Install disk of Workbench 2.1 and prepared the CF disk under HDToolbox as a single partition and OFS filesystem.
Then I restarted and booted Workbench 1.3 using the custom Kickstart 1.3+SCSI image under WinUAE and Initialized the HD from the menus. After that, I copied the WB1.3 disk (copy df0: dh0: ALL CLONE).
A restart without floppy under WinUAE got me into Workbench 1.3 just fine!!! (although I had some minor messaged about HD problem - apparently cause I was using IDE0 emulation).

3rd step:
Mounted the CF card into the real A600 and powered on!
Workbench 1.3 booted just fine (with the same error messages that I had on WinUAE as well) but after clicking "Cancel" everything worked!

It was really nice to see WB1.3 via HD on an A600.

Experiment was successful

You can use the FFS from 2.1, it works fine.
I dont get any errrors when booting.

I almost have a working bootable HDD, using ACAtune , .
Still a Work in progress.

So, I finally grabbed an 1.3 ROM from my A500.
I patched it correctly with Toni's scsi.device.
I don't have a ROM burner so is it possible to make a softkick?

Yes, i was wondering the same thing.
Is it possible to use a utility like relokick to boot an A500 with a custom made kickstart which includes scsi.device?

Another option could be to use a boot floppy which mounts the hd via on disk mountlist and scsi.device and transfers control to the hd and boots from there saving precious memory used by softkicking. I had to use such a setup with my kick 37.299 A600 (as it had no inbuilt scsi.device).

The above is assuming wanting to use a real kickstart 1.3 or a hardware romswitcher should softkicking custom roms not doing what you want.

Yep, no point in wasting all that RAM by softkicking if all you need is the scsi.device.. Loading a 512k kickstart off floppy gets really old anyway.. :-)

Hmm i only get "no matching patches" when i try to patch scsi device...?

Update: I grabbed scsi.device with romsplit, that was my problem. the getscsi tool should be used. I've got a kick 1.3 with scsi.device inside now!

I could make you one. What size do you need and how many partitions?
