Softkicking 3.1 on GVP 030

I got my package from Softhut yesterday, but the 3.1 rom I bought doesn't work - all I get is a red screen. They're shipping me a new one, but I'm an impatient guy, so the question is how I best softkick 3.1 while I'm waiting for the new chip. I have an A2000 with kickstart 2.04 in rom, and a GVP 030+SCSI board with 16 MB of fastram. It has a 40 MHz CPU, and I think it's supposed to be an 68EC030, but the GvpInfo program reports a bunch of info about the MMU - I guess that means it's present?

I tried skick and didn't have much luck - it just resets and doesn't "stick", I'm still at 2.04.

BlizKick doesn't claim to support the GVP board, but maybe it works anyway?

Should I just try BlizKick or is there something else?

Try and kick the KS to slow fast or chip ram and see if it becomes reset resistant that way. I've seen that same problem with skick too, it just doesn't like 32bit fast ram. :-(

68EC030 = can be 68030 that didn't pass MMU test. (=some MMU instructions work, some do nothing, some crash the system instantly etc..)

Jope: OK, I'll give that shot.

Toni: Ah. Any test programs out there?

On a related note, any idea where one could pick up a 68030/50 these days?

Ebay? IC-China is very known reseller who works with those old chips.

In a quick search I found:
http://cgi.ebay.com/68030-33mhz-CPU-...QQcmdZViewItem and this.

The last one is a bit expensive.

I removed all expansions except the Buddha, and tried kicking to chip ram, with and without patching. No go. It takes a little longer to reset, but comes up with 2.04.

I think ALL EC030's are ones where the MMU failed during testing - AFAIK they didn't design a separate die without the MMU (why bother?)

Either way I got my 3.1 rom from ggsdata.se, so I have no need for softkicking anymore
