One thing I noticed though, with the "The Black Gate / The Forge of Virtue"; in the intro when "The Guardian" speaks; text is now no longer displayed.

Is this an issue with the Amiga port or the latest version of Exult?
Thanks for the feedback and kind words.

Nope, this isn't a bug. You have to disable speech or enable subtitles with version 1.6 to get the text.

Yep it's a shame, it does that same thing on the Windows build

Looking at the code I'm not surprised it doesn't run very smoothly.

Hi.
Currently testing latest Exult RTG. I would like to know what is the target CPU of this port, as 68060/50 + zz9000 Z3 + external MIDI is very slow in low res. Vampire is fine in 640*480.

I find it just about playable on TF1260/50+Mediator+Radeon in 320x200 resolution, but it suffers from slowdowns and long loading times. Much better at 100mhz overclock, and higher resolutions becomes useable.

I ended up creating 416x260 screenmode for it, there's a bit of gameplay footage of that at 2:24:46 mark

@NovaCoder:

Another of your great ports, thanks for this. Installed the RTG version today on my PiStorm A500, copied the files from the Ultima Collection CD over and both Black Gate and Serpent Isle are working with no issues. Well, almost. The speech in the SI intro just before the Gardian shows up is overlapping for some seconds, but I assume that's caused by one of the supplied sfx files rather than a problem with the port itself.

Any plans for a port of Ultima 8, btw? The re-created engine started as "Pentagram" is part of ScummVM since 2020:
https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/t...engines/ultima

Given you have ported ScummVM already, might not be too hard to do a version that runs only U8..?

Sorry but I'm all ported out right now, someone else will do a port sooner or later I'm sure.

Understabable.

But I was thinking since you have a ScummVM port already, all it takes is to include the Ultima engine, remove the other engines, have it autostart U8 instead of the GUI and you are basically done.

Other people would have to start from scratch, as no Amiga port of ScummVM has the source code available.

That is simply not true.

Look at NovaCoder's release on Aminet as it includes
ScummVM/ScummVM_src.zip

It should be possible for anyone to make the changes you suggest. As you hint it should be an "easy" task, why don't you go ahead and build the Ultima only version yourself.

Point me to that file, please. There is no source code on Aminet for his current RTG/AGA port, nor is it included in the binary archive. Only a VERY OLD version from 2015 has it, which is way too old to add the Ultima engine.

First, I did not use the word "easy". I only listed the few steps needed when having ported ScummVM to the Amiga already. Second, what's the point of people always telling others to just do it themselves? I can't code for the Amiga, it's as easy as that. That does not mean I have no clue about how ScummVM works, which is why I wrote what I wrote.

Yep there are quite a few scummvm ports based on my (many) hours of work available online if you look.
