Escape - Surprisingly good adventure game on Aminet
I'm a big fan of prison movies and games. So was happy to find this "point and click" adventure. It is pretty good for a PD game and i recommend it to all who like adventure games.
I have been stuck in this game for some days now. It would be cool if someone else also played this so we could solve the game together. Some of many problems I have: How to get the playing card from the bird cage? How to get the egg from the bird in the garden? How to enter the store? I have the key but the guard catch me. Here are some random screenshots to make you interested: The game can be downloaded here: http://aminet.net/package/game/role/Escape Last edited by hipoonios; 29 October 2016 at 14:37. |

Ironically, if the Smurf game you made is anything to go by you could have ended up in prison

Here you go my friend. Take a look in The Zone! for a file named "Escape (2000)(Norman Crossfield)(AGA).zip"
This was a quick and dirty "HD install --> ADF" package really; of course I've tested and all seems good. Things to note: ... The game has been made for A1200. ... The files within the Aminet archive are 1.6MB when extracted so too big to fit onto a single disk without compression / re-extraction to RAM. I know that you use WinUAE so; set an AGA configuration with at least 2MB Chip & 1MB Fast RAM; though I just use a 2MB Chip & 4MB Fast RAM configuration... Enjoy |

I just read the docs and found out you can save your progress.
Create a drawer named 'savegame'. Now you can press F5 to bring up a menu with options: You can save without create a savegame drawer. But then the game will ask you to insert a disk. |

Great work DamienD!
In the docs the author claims this can be played from floppy. So it is possible to create "proper" disks that can be played on real Amiga's. Just create two disks and name them Escape1 and Escape2. Now, use disk_list on disk (also attached) to know which files belong to which disk. Of course you need to make disk 1 bootable and create a startup-sequence too Haven't tried it myself. But should work. Last edited by hipoonios; 30 October 2016 at 10:01. |

Yesterday I tried the game without reading the manual first. Unfortunately, I couldn`t save because of no Savegame directory. The Aminet archive should be updated.

...didn't even think to take a look at the docs ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ok, so have now created 2 new disks using the instructions which run on a standard A1200 - 2MB Chip RAM. Must say it was a lot of work; here's some of the things I did after copying the required files to each disk: a) On Disk 1, create a "Libs" directory and copy "diskfont.library" in otherwise the game wouldn't start. b) Create an assign for ENV: to RAM: otherwise you get an error when starting the game. c) Create a screen which allows you to choose whether to start the game or to view the 2 x docs files: d) Write scripts to handle the above choices. Doc files are viewed via PPMore. e) Manually edit each doc file; because due to text length they weren't being displayed properly. f) One or two other bits and bobs. Anyway; all done now and I'm very happy with how the disks turned out File now in The Zone! Enjoy!!! |

It looks really good, I will give it a try tonight! (just checked if there is anything else from the same author on Aminet, but unfortunately nothing).

So how did you manage to get all your items? Did you get them from the shed? I only collected a couple of items from there. Some cord and a screwdriver.
Maybe I need to explore the other cells first. I only visited my next door neighbour with the cats. Picked up an old slipper. It is quite good actually. You're right. Quite humorous as well. |

Very good game, full of humour in Monkey Island style. I really like it!
(BTW: stuck a lot. Still can not solve the Nest, or how to distract the Doc) Last edited by Predseda; 30 October 2016 at 23:05. |

But then, do I run it from the HD or does it have any problem there or do I use the floppies and what changes do I have to make (for both)?

Running from the floppy disks I created: ... You don't need to do anything; put both disks in and boot. Running from the Aminet .LHA file: ... Open the .LHA file and copy the contents to your Workbench hard drive. ... Created a directory called "Savegame" under the root of where all Escape directories / files are. |

If you play it from HD and quit to WB for further work you might get an instable system. At least here (A1200 040) when I quit back to WB a lot of MuForce hits are shown.

In the "Main-docs" file it does say the following:
The "TECHNO." part is interesting as it talks about finalising development on an A1200 40MHz 040 with FPU. daxb; I guess if you use the floppy disk version you won't have issues as Workbench isn't used. |

So where did you get those keys from? And how did you get that bottle and those two tubs? I'm really scratching my head with this one.
