Mouse problems

Having recently found my old Amiga 1200, I booted it up and apart from the old HD not working anymore it seems to work OK except the mouse pointer does not move but buttons work, having got another working mouse from ebay this does exactly the same. I have tried the mice in the joystick port on 2 player lemmings and still no mouse movement. My joystick works in the mouse port in 2player speedball 2 and the joystick is able to move my pointer diagonally.
Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

Check the 5V supply pin (pin 7) at the mouse/joy ports on the Amiga with a multimeter.
A power failure on this pin will make the joysticks and left and right mouse buttons work, but not the mouse movement. Joysticks do not use the 5V supply, but a mouse needs this supply to drive the IR LEDs for the X and Y movement, as well as to power a logic chip inside the mouse.
Without power, left and right mouse buttons should still work fine but mouse movement will be completely shut off.

Thanks for the info. Have checked pin 7 and it appears to be dead on both ports. Using a voltmeter a light shows on all the pins except pin 7. Sorry correction it appears to have 5 volt at pin7 I was reading the wrong pin! Also the 2nd mouse i have got from ebay will not move the pointer at all but my original mouse moves the pointer ever so slightly if i move the mouse around like crazy.

Problem sorted, don't laugh but my wife took the original mouse apart and moved a few sensors that were attached to the rollers and it worked! It appears the 2nd mouse off ebay is duff!
