Can you give any more details, for example:
 What was the setting? Was it medieval, fantasy, modern etc?
 What was the scene? Graveyard, countryside, forest etc?
 What (who) else was in the image? Knights, ghosts, lords, kings, animals etc?
 What was the art style? Serious illustration, fun, abstract etc? I’m guessing the advert had a certain sense of humour to it.

I know you won’t remember all that stuff or you’d know what the image is (!), but with a few more clues I think we can get this… The only other thing I can think of, is that over time you’ve mistaken the advert with that of something else, and it might not have been in a computer mag after all?

It could well have been a Settlers advert, but I cant find any print adds for it at all.

Depressing thing is I took this ad out of a magazine and had it on my wall for several years, I just cant remember what it was for.

I'm pretty sure of two things, a) it was during the 90's. b) the game was also on PC.

Not much help I know.

All of that would help, plus:

were there more graveyards showing the same snobistic disdain of lower class?
If so, it could point to a game where the main character/s that the player controls could be of such low upbringing, acting in whatever quest for a higher social power, as opposed as a strategy game where the player controls
the ruler instead.

Is it also without doubt that we are looking for:
a) a game,
b) a computer game,
c) an Amiga game?

For instance it could be also a Goosebump tabletop game advertising (I cannot read the lines on the graveyards in the images found on google).
As it could be as well advertised on a computer magazine from the nineties.

I have looked through quite a few old mags searching for this, and different ads for the same game are not uncommon...

I'm almost certain it was for a computer game... although it did cross my mind that it could have been for an article about a genre...

I remember this ad because it was the first thing I came across when flicking through the mag, and for a brief moment I thought the peasant might be the Amiga community... This strongly suggests it was post Commodore. It was a full page ad with no large writing apart from the inscription on the gravestone. It was near to the back of the mag in/near the serious section. The mag had views from the editor and other contributors along with their photos on the first few pages.

If I find it I will post it up here... even if it proves my memory to be total rubbish.

Well we're rapidly approaching 11 years since I started this thread so fingers crossed!

My recollection of this is so vague now, all I can tell you with 99.9% certainty is that this was in a British computer magazine & it was an advert not part of an article.

Magazines I was getting around this time would have been Amiga Format, PC Format, CD-ROM User and GamesMaster.
It was VERY rarely I purchased any other magazines.

I had a look in two late 1998 Amiga Formats I had, and there wasn't a single page advert for a game in either; indeed the only single page at all was for another Future magazine. This indicates to me it's unlikely to be a late 90s AF it was in. Likewise I flicked through the two Amiga Actions (urrrgh) of the same year and again there weren't any adverts there; unsurprising as the money in Amiga advertising was long since drawn down then. So I'd suggest narrowing your search to early 90s if you think it was Amiga related, or swapping to PC or pure Features.
