Your favourite Amiga filemanager/directory tool

What is your favourite Amiga filemanager?

I think I know what the results will be (Dopus winning), but I'd like to see the numbers. If you use a filemanager that is not listed, please specify and explain why you like it best. Maybe this poll will help others find good filemanagers they didn't know existed. I suppose this poll will also show how many people use their Amiga for more than just games.

I voted for ABCdir. Even though it's old, I've never found anything better. (...and I hate Dopus)

Filemaster 2.2+ or 3.1 (less stable), simple, efficiency, easy to configure, fast, run on kick1.3 as well as 3.1... it remember several directory listing (10 per windows). One of my essential tools

Dopus is very average straight out of the box, but when you get used to its configuration interface you can create a really powerful setup.

I admit, there are other good file managers but I've invested so much time setting up Dopus that I couldn't change as it does everything I want.

For the PC I just couldn't live without Windows/Total Commander, all because of being used to working with configurable Amiga directory tools.

I still use DOpus 4 on the Amiga (I never really got into the later versions) and the Windows version of DOpus on my laptop and at work.

I used xlent from cachet (part of the xcopy tools), it's small and handy. And of course dopus with all the individual config possibilities.

Yes - this is the problem with every single Amiga filemanager. You have to spend hours programming all the buttons and configuring filetypes and setting fonts just to get it right. At least with ABCdir, the layout and fonts don't need much setting up because it comes with a nice built-in font. All the other filemanagers have the damn ugly topaz as default. Still, I've spent many many hours configuring ABCdir. Every once in a while I spend a few hours testing another filemanager, but they never match the features I like in ABCdir. What I really want is an updated ABCdir (..or the source code).

Maybe it would be good if people could post screenshots of different filemanagers. I'm sure most of these filemanagers look better after they have been configured.

the only utility worth using was and still is SID2...

file managers should be fast and snappy not bloated and suggesting a kitchen sink is what you need...

"DirWork" (version 1.62, I think) used to do everything I needed, and was quite compact as a piece of code, so I never actually bothered about any alternative.

Never had any problems with it. Even used it to re-organise directories within my Programs directories on the PC!! Brave move I know....

mr_a500, i had a browse on your pictures at amiga.org, there are some really impressive, like the Mac Os8 running on the A500, cool!

Same here! Well, I don't have a laptop, but I do have DOpus 6.0 for Windows at home and at work.
