Frontier: How to Navigate Galactic Map?

I am trying to get to Ross 248 from wherever the hell I am but I can't "click" on any of the star systems in the galactic map. I have to kind of randomly hover over them with the arrow keys which is almost impossible.

What am I doing wrong?

You're doing nothing wrong. That's exactly how it works! Its shite! Haha. Try using the zoom buttons on the bottom right panel for more accurate 'hovering'. You can also use the right mouse button to rotate around the map. Its not a great interface!

Thanks for the confirmation. The CD32 version, though not as good in a lot of ways, allows for direct selection of the systems you wish to travel to. I will probably go back to playing it there.
