A500 ram

Possibly a stupid question !

Got an old A500 , on the MOBO where the RAM is , it is marked 512k/1M , but only half the positions are populated .
Would it be possible to nick the chips of one MOBO and put onto another to create 1MB ?

Only some A500s let you do that, but yes, it's possible.

You need to have an Agnus which can address 1MB of Chip-RAM (I think 8372a?) and one of the MB revs which actually support this mod.

Give a look at this tutorial made by our good ol' Zetr0 (too bad a lot of images are missing now) on Amibay: http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php...9240#post49240

I'll do this myself one day (my A500 still has the warranty seal intact, so I'm a bit on the edge actually...)

Sadly the sever housing these images no longer exists, as such some images have been lost.
Pretty much 80% of the images are not there anymore at all because the server they were on went boom.

It is a Rev 6 A MOBO .
Reading Zetr0s words it causes issues with trapdoor RAM , is that right ?
Bearing in mind the A500 will probably only be used for games and maybe some Music Programs is it worth the bother ?

Trapdoor RAM shares the same address as the empty mobo space. So they are exclusive.
