Siamese RTG v2.5

Ok, please don't tar & feather me here peeps!

Got my lovely new A1200 - '060, Scsi, Fast ATA, networked, lots of memory.

Spent a little while refurbing it so it looks new. ( yes, I'm that sad )

Generally v. pleased.

Problem is I've gotten quite spoiled with running AOS under RTG. ( I have a CD32 for games ) AGA is not doing it for me...

Thinks... Internal RTG card? Doesn't have to be great, just a little more colour @ something like 800x600 or 1024x768... None that I can find! Bugger!
I won't put it in a tower. Got towers coming out of my ears!
( it's an unfortunate condition don't-you-know )

Was thinking if a cheapie internal RTG board would make for a good hardware project - as if Zetr0 & narmi aren't busy enough!

Then the light dawns: Siamese RTG v2.5!
All my putes are networked. I've got this damn-big PC that actually gets used for very little... Maybe it would serve as a GFX card?

And finally:
Onto my question...
I can't find a copy anywhere!
Not to buy, not on the net. I WANT RTG! But oh no, not yet!
( Sorry, Dr Sues moment there )

Any clues?
Does any kind body feel like 'zoning' it if that's appropriate.

Mind you, I'm expecting Zetr0's latest gizmo will be of great help on the quality front.

@Charlie

Hello there my friend

I have Siamese systems 2.1, wich is limmited over serial, the 2.5 allows for tcp-ip action.

I wonder if the handelr could be used with a tcp-ipstack... the amiga's 10mbit would be a HUGE increase compaired to Amiga Serial.

If you wany I can postie a disk out or image it and have it somewhere for you to d/l... ... atleast you will get an overview and see if siamese is for you..

I will be running this little (or 2.5) on an internal SBC when i get my power miggy up and running.... (to damn cool)

I am about to update the Narmi External (for the last time i hope lol) I have included an 15Khz VGA out in it too and according to CBM's specifications (i dont think its needed but its cheap an i have included it) signal amplifier for the VGA

okies now off to zippity up siamese

I am sorry oto hear/read that you are afflicted with the "Towers-comming-out-of-ears" syndrome... its quite sad...

I have been receiving medical treatment for "desktops-comming-out-of-my -aahhhh..." perhaps not best to discuss that in open forum... LOL

hmmm internal graphics card would be something i would love to make....

I would look at starting arround a PCI 4mb virgie S3 (since its quite well supported / documented ) and have it connect on a simple trapdoor adapter... food for thought me thinks...

I have to admit, Although i appreciate the Kudos, had Narmi not inspired me and in all truth poke me when i had borked it I doubt it would of come to fruition LOL he's a Hardware Hero

I do however, look forward to hacking one of those CRT/TFT tuner units though... i am sure it would take an RGB signal (just needs a little incentive thats all)

I wouldn't mind a copy to play with - I'll PM you.

Getting greedy here:-
While I go play with Zetr0's Siamese does anyone have 2.5?

I'd also like to get my paws on 2.5 since my original went tits up.
Nearly forgot about it but now I'm in the mood fiddling around with it again.

Good point - I have a plan! Oh - yes! And what a plan! Mhwa ha, ha, ha, haaar!

On a more sane note: Did I notice you mention in a previous thread that the 'link' can be made via SCSI?
This would be good! ( speed ).
Is it obvious? I'm only just about to play with this software for the first time...
Thanks.

If you have a cyberstorm MKIII or CSPPC then the UW SCSI connection to the PC increases the performance from 1-2 Mbyte/sec to 20-30Mbyte-sec. The response can be very fast.

I wouldnt bother if you dont have one of those, just use 10Mbit Ethernet.

If it does, then you are one of the only ones in the world, as that is usually an A4000/A3000 only bit of kit.

Ok picky!

It's one of these: Phase 5 Blizzard IV SCSI
Attached to one of these:
Phase5 Blizzard 1260
-would do the job I presume?

@gulliver: My thanks

Yeah, but no where near as good as UW SCSI on CSMKIII/PPC
