C64 beat em ups, whos the daddy?
in the c64 days a debate raged about which was the best beat em up
The Way of the Exploding Fist vs International Karate So in one of those slow afternoon chats I though, if one played was using the Fist move set and another played use the IK move set who would win. Then I though (big thinking day today), would anyone ever be able to create such a game, then I thought why not post it on eab and let someone else do the thinking. So I errr kind of did. Over to you guys |

I'm confused
Did you want us to vote on which game we liked more? Or combine elements of both games into an even better game which would have ruled had it been released back in the C64's heyday? Or maybe I'm off on both counts |

This is a potentially nice thread. Mod should move it to nostalgia or retrogaming forum.

I was trying to say, wouldn't it be cool (hint) if someone with some programing skill (hint) could make said IK/Fist game so we could settle once and for all which is the better beat em up.

Oh! And we could use some cool digitized stop-motion fighters like in that old arcade game, Pit Fighter, instead of little hand drawn sprites!

Definately IK+
Original International Karate comes a close second and the third place goes to Exploding Fist... |

We all know IK+ was the very best beat em up, but if Exploding fist bloke fought the IK bloke who do you think would win?
I think the IK guy would win because he had the better moves. |

Hey, didn't anyone like my choppily-animated digitized sprite idea, à la Pit Fighter?
We could have all the EAB members be selectable combatants, like Street Fighter! |

Since we have (killer) gorillas & (Fred the) ducks (and Rattus... has she disappeared again?) as members, wouldn't it be more like Clayfighter or Paws of Fury...?

IK+ is the best fighting game. The idea of three players at the same time is brilliant! An IK+ guy would defenatly beat an exploding fist guy, with a nice double kick!

I liked Exploding fist because of the poetic backdrops and soothing music. But IK was a lot more responsive, so it was more fun to play. IK+, where two human players could gang up on the computer (muhahahh) was great. So, IK all the way ...
