well its upto the AMR team, but if there is enough interests and a good image compression ratio I am happy to host them for AMR's cover disk section.

I wonder were those full of stuff... The one in Germany used to have a lot of demos etc. to fill the space?!

We're happy to add CD images to AMR - it's not currently a priority for me (can't speak for the others) as my internet connection isn't great).

However if others are happy to get the images to Zetr0, they can easily be linked.

I would suggest compressing them with rar (zip isn't designed for large files, and 7z is too slow on older machines and doesn't give much improvement on compression over rar). Duke can advise on the best format for CDs and has an excellent guide to creating images.

Compression with 7zip is far better in compression rates.

I can help changing rar to 7zip.

How big CDs are?

I haven't noticed that much of an increase in compression between the CD32 images I had compressed as both 7z and rar.

The reason I suggested rar is you get good compression and it is much more widely used so more people know how to deal with the files. I'm not that fussed either way, but before I got my new computer 7z really sucked as it took way too long to decompress the archives.

Rar require license, where 7zip is free.

It does require more memory, especially if you use higher level of compression.

Either way, it would be nice to see some CDs, but if they are huge I wouldn't bother. It may take you day or two to upload one.

Not sure about size-wise as I don't collect them myself, but there are 287 coverdiscs available as CD images atm (out of 304 currently listed).

Canaca offer 500gb webspace for just $3.95 a month but I don't think I've been upgraded to that much from the 20gb given to me when I registered last year.

That's way too much.

There are other things that should have higher priority then CD cover disks.

@ BippyM - Are you sure you didn't mix fred's pr0n with your cover disks collection?

That is a hell of a lot of stuff.

Maybe a project could be setup hosting SOME of the rarer and/or more useful stuff from these disks?

The majority of stuff on the disks would be considered not very useful anymore as most apps/productivity software have newer versions, a lot of the games can be found online or on aminet.

CD GEMS ONLY!
