A3640 , Reverse engineered!
Well.. I was boored at the hotel on a businesstrip this week.
So. what to do? why not reverse engineer the A3640? so.. here you can read: http://wordpress.hertell.nu/?page_id=514 With full editable cadfile for Sprint Layout. a simple electronics cad software that let you use a picture as background.. so I did it. Enjoy! |

So now there's a board design and the source for the GALs is available I think, though sadly not for Speedgeek's GALs. Someone combine those GALs into one larger CPLD and add some DMA SDRAM. And a SCSI controller. And a local bus expansion. And.

well.. that would be awesome if someone did this.. a opensourced 060 card for the Amiga would be moooost awesome
I guess there will be soome bugs and hickups in this. but will try to fix them. it was a total a pain to do this with 1366x768 resolution at the hotel |

well as it is done now I am not sure if it is possible to do PCBs of it. vias are close etc. (and VCC/GND planes need some kind of rework) but I guess it will be possible to fix issues and do it.. it would be nice as hell to do a 3660 out of it.. and later change all GALs to a FPGA. add memory controller and. well. opensource the fuck out of it.

There are ways to run 2D graphics into gerbr files, as I am sure you are aware. The tricky bit is making sure the graphics files contain just the trace paths as an ink colour, over a background colour. Probably hundreds of ways, that's just the one I'm familiar with. |

It is made in sprint-layout of the simple reason: it have this nice feature of presenting a picture as background so you can trace from it. problem with sprint is that there are NO export function except gerber. but if ANYONE want that gerber files ask me and I will give them (mirrored or not) hopefully someone can use this to to more work out of it.
Anyway. sprint if kind of nice anyway. |

I did try loading up the OrCAD schematic from the Haynie files, but it wouldn't load.
Having a look at the file, it has hard-coded links to library documents, and more crucially, custom components libraries (E:\AMIGA\HARDWARE ARCHIVE\AMIGA.OLB for example), without access to these libraries, the OrCAD capture software just crashes out. Unfortunately those weren't included in the Haynie files... |

And that is why I decided to do this so we have some kind of file that loads in any software..
