is the HDD led supposed to work when using CF card

i have the all in and working on a 44pin CF IDE adaptor. but the HDD led doesnt light up when it's using it.

the computer is booting fine. no problems that i can tell. and the LED works fine if i plug the 2.5" drive back in.

so, is it supposed to work or not? i miss it, i have no noise whatsoever to tell me if its accessing the drive or not.

The signal for the activity LED comes from the drive (or CF card in your case). Your adapter card might not have that pin connected from the CF card to the 44-pin connector. It's pin 39 on the IDE connector, not sure what it is on the CF card. I'm sure you can look it up and test your adapter card with a multimeter. The LED should light up, I know mine does. My CF adapter also has it's own LED which lights up.
