Terminal emulator for A500 KS1.3
I am looking for a terminal emulator for my A500. I have 3 floppies and KS1.3. What should I get?

Depends a bit on what you are looking for when you say terminal emulator.
If you are thinking of something for telnet BBSing, etc (assuming you have a serial to ethernet adapter), the general response seems to be ncomm, although I use JRComm, probably for purely nostalgic reasons.. :-) If you are talking for connecting to a Linux/Unix box (VT100,VT52, etc), the above might work, but progs like term or vt100 might be better... There's lots of options tho... You can check aminet.net to see all the comm stuff available.. ;-) Ah, the good ole days! ;-) desiv |

VLTjr also isn't a bad choice, depending on your requirements - VERY low system requirements.

NComm v1.921; hands down the best piece of terminal software that will work right out of the box on any KS13+WB13 powered stock A500.
I myself have long been looking for a copy (used to have it, lost it in a hd crash), but to no avail Mind you, though, you'll need a good comm driver to get the best out of it. |

My guess:
Requires:WB 2+ p.s. If you can find the Fred Fish disks, they have: Disk 621: NComm A communications program based on Comm version 1.34, by DJ James, with lots of very nice enhancements. Works on any Amiga with 512K RAM or more, ANSI/vt100 terminal emulation with 8 color text, PAL NTSC and overscan support, full support for all European languages, baud rates up to 115200 baud, support for lots of file transfer protocols including XPR library protocols, script language, scrollback buffer, hot keys, an ARexx interface, macros, clipboard support, and more. This is version 2.0, an update to version 1.9 on disk 356. Shareware, binary only. Author: DJ James, Daniel Bloch, Torkel Lodberg, et al. (And as it mentions, 1.9 is on disk 356) desiv Last edited by desiv; 15 September 2015 at 23:52. |

Thanks! I'll look for it.
Still, the file is question's named "NCOMM921.LZH", and it's buried somewhere in the many .rar files that make up the whole "The Boiler Room" archive available from the grandis ftp (specifically whatever .rar's happen to contain "Tape 7") Problem is, I'll probably die of old age before the download's over, given I have but a few kb's a second to spare per download, so technically speaking, the file remains as good as nonexistent for me. /Commodore_Amiga/Collection/BBS/THE BOILER ROOM/ |

Sorry about the delay.
From what I recall, I couldn't get anything newer than the late v1 builds to cooperate with my KS13+WB13 setup back in the day. Whether this was due to limitations on the system's part, some third party libraries missing or what have you, that I have no idea. Nevertheless, I must mention I've long favored BaudBandit over WB13's default serial device driver. The readme for 3.0 suggests there shouldn't even be an issue, and even though that wasn't my experience (it wouldn't even install here), maybe it will work for you. I, however, will cling unto my guns for convenience's sake, since apparently the latest version, being shareware, is missing some features. |

I am connecting to a Linux/*BSD box (haven't decided yet). I will be using zmodem for filetransfers using rz and sz from the lrzsz package.
I managed to get some files transferred using hombre floppies when disk images using gotek cortex and fs-uae didn't work. There is some weird going on there, new thread for that. |
