Drip Game

Hi,

I uploaded to The Zone a dump of a floppy (the Drip Game) which doesn't run on any Amiga I tried it.
It was given to me from a friend.
I don't understand why it doesn't run... the floppy has no errors, there're no "lamer" ruined blocks...
It doesn't run on WinUAE, too, of course.

I don't think it's the PD game "Drip", so I would like to see it run..

maybe it's Drip! (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...%21#post453436), not Drip (http://hol.abime.net/5380)

Your diskimage works fine here in WinUAE. What's your problem? This flickering is probably the decompressing. Wait a few seconds and you see the trainer menu.

What?
I *never* saw the menu! Neither on real A600 (it resets) nor in WinUAE (it resets, too). Let me see...

EDIT: nope! Which configuration are you using? Some Advanced chipset setting ??

Perhaps you're using KS 1.3?
With 1.2 and 2.05 I can't run it.

I uploaded Midnight Resistance, too. Same problem...

Sometimes 1.2 is too old, 2.0 too new, 1.3 is good for most games.

Mmm... not so common. I had 2 A500s with KS 1.2.
I always used WinUAE with OCS, KS 1.2, 512KB chip, 68000.

You're right, it works! Yep!
It needs 1MB RAM and KS1.3.
Ok, thanks

I bet the crackers had KS 1.3 fitted on their machine, so Drip decrunches, doesn't find 1.3 and crashes. In fact, it crashes on every KS except 1.3...

How strange... the same applies to Midnight Resistance!

Try to understand me: amongst more then 1100 floppies, I have only 2 games which don't run on KS 1.2
I ever thought KS 1.2 to be compatible with almost all games (excluding ECS-only and AGA, of course).

This Midnight Resistance version has a highscore saver, the orignal game lacks this feature.

You can adjust brightness, contrast and gamma on the display window :

Hope that helps

Hi TCD

Thanks, I knew that .
I wonder why some games are much darker on WinUAE than on a real Amiga, while other games haven't this problem...
Is this an emulation issue that will be corrected by Toni?

Hi Supamax,

If nobody else can confirm this problem, it might just be your graphics card/driver version. If it is this which is causing the problem, you might check your graphics card manufacturer's website for updated drivers.

(The Tomb Raider game for DOS is much darker with a Matrox Mystique graphics card than with any other supported card - a problem which has never been fixed!)

I think Toni gave the answer once and pointed out a way to fix it. Will have a look if I can find it

@prowler
No, this is a problem with some games mate Nothing wrong with his drivers

This is no emulation issue. Some games have a very dark color palette. Midnight Resintance looks pretty dark on a real Amiga (TV/RGB) too.

Okay, found the thread : http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=28552
Seems like the 'RGB overlays' thing is already removed, so the display adjustments should do for now. If you can name some games that are brighter on your A600, I'm sure Toni will have a look
