Earth 2140 intro problem

Earlier I've had this game working nicely, but now a strange problem has risen that doesn't harm the actual gameplay but is rather strange.

The game intro video is messed up: firstly it opens a 1024x768 screen and the video is shown doubled, one little video to left and one on the right side of screen. The bottom screen is a mix of gray, red whatever colors. I think it should open a smaller window to display the intro video. Any idea why it's opening a 1024x768 screen?

No guesses, tips, advice, anything?? C'mon people let's solve this thing
Today I'm gonna remake all P96 screenmodes from scratch to see if that corrects the situation.

What about using screen promoter like newmode and force a different mode?

Maybe 640x480 (or even 320x240) is better for the Video?

However I had similar issues with Genetic Species, I had to watch the Video in a Native screen (PAL High Res I think) for correct video playback and then I swap to RTG for the game

Steve.

Yes, some RTG games did have videos that ran on the native chips (Trapped at least). A screen promoter (I'd try ModePro) would give some info what screenmode the game wants to output and then it could be changed.

Are we talking about running on a real Amiga or WinUAE?

iirc the resolution for the videos can be set in the startup file.
I'm not at home to see for myself, sorry if it's not

Yes this is on my real miggy don't even have WinAUE set on me PeeCee
Only RTG-modes are used in this game, no AGA.

I remade all my resolutions in PicassoMode yesterday, result: now the game skips the intro video, it doesn't play even if I click in the game menu "intro". Btw. I can't find a startup-file for the screenmodes is there even one

About promoting the screen: the game is launched with "earth2140.exe" along with the intro and if I should promote it to 320x240 (which I believe is the intro resolution) the whole game is then promoted. I'll try it but I think it's a no go.

Genetic Species works well here the intro is displayed in AGA and game is played in RTG

I will install the damn game again and see if it corrects this situation...

SOLVED! Re-installation didn't make any difference, but silly me: the game intro needs a 16-BIT SCREENMODE (320x240 I think), I had only made 8-bit modes of the lower resolutions
Now added 16-bit depth in all other lower resolutions too.

EDIT: checked what screen res the intro opens: it's a 640x480 one but I ALREADY HAD a 16-bit screenmode for it in PicassoMode. Strangely it works now I've made sure all resolutions have 16-bit available, even if it doesn't use any other than 640x480. Explanation???

EDIT 2: checked again and...I DIDN'T HAVE 640x480 16-bit screenmode set, that was the problem
