EAB hacked? No!
According to news at safir.amigaos.se, eab.abime.net might had a possible intrusion attempt stealing passwords. Some news concerning this is also located here:
http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/a...p?storyid=6202 However I've seen no news about this matter here on EAB...? Anyone knows what happened and do we need to worry? |

I think someone is merely speculating as far as EAB is concerned as I have heard nothing about such an event happening here. I don't know where they got the information from and to be honest I think the last thing we need in this situation is somebody posting information like that without any proof this could have happened. It is not helpful in the slightest and I think people should be wary of "news" like this elsewhere if they can't supply evidence.
However, certainly one or two other sites are having pretty major issues with this at the moment, so all I will advise is that if you are concerned that the security on this site has been compromised then you change your password as a precautionary measure. The only person who will know for sure will be RCK and no doubt he will inform us if such an attack has taken place. In the meantime, if the moderators hear anything then we will make everybody aware ASAP. We now return you to your scheduled programme... |

i dont think this is happening on eab at all.
if it was happening here someone would know about it,but since no-one has had it happen then its not worth worrying about. |

I think I know what might have sparked this rumour.
When RCK removed the zero-posters' accounts (those who had not been active for at least four months), some of them thought their accounts had been hacked into and their passwords changed, because they could no longer get access to their accounts. When they spoke about this to others, that's when the rumours started... I've received PMs about this. One such whose account had been removed even posted on AmiBay about it.

Well, there are probably some users who used their "0 posts account" for The Zone downloads only. Though, its fair to delete 0 poster accounts at some time.

When I first registered, it was precisely just to download a file which I saw had been uploaded to The Zone. Can you believe that? It's absolutely true.
I didn't post in the forums for some time, but then, once I had done so, I found I quite liked it really!
