Blizzard 1260....Software Failure...
Hi
I've just managed to get a hold of a Blizzard 1260... Problem is, every time I have tried booting thus far I get a "Software failure" error. if I hold down the two mice buttons and look at the "Expansion Card Diagnostics" it tells me the expansion card is working. Do I have to do something special (i.e rebuild the os or download a new library or something ? or should the card just "work" ? Machine works fine when I remove the card.... cheers Andrew |

Hi Andrew,
Did the card come with an install disk? There is an 060 library AFAIK, but if you needed it to boot the machine, it would have to be installed before the card was inserted. prowler |

It may boot without crashing if you delete/rename old libs:68040.library, but it will still crash if any program tries to use FPU and also it will run much slower than with 68060.library..

Note that you need "dummy" 68040.library if you don't have recent setpatch.

Replaced 68040.Lib as well (Sysinfo now works and thinks the 060 is a 'rather quick' 040 )
Oddly I have a DF0: Unreadable Icon on workbench... cant get internal floppy drive going although I can boot from it... but of course I get a software error. Edit:- Prowler, no it didn't come with a install disk mate, although am downloading one from the linkie above. Last edited by asm1; 18 April 2009 at 21:51. |

Ooo crappers just burnt myself on the 060 chip.
since the 060 has no heatsink on it I assume rectifying this would be a good idea ? |

68060 does not need any heat sinks (it feels hot if you touch it but it is very very far from being too hot, even 68030 is too hot to touch)
