Upgrade choices
As some of you may know, I recently revived my A2000 3.1 with A2386SX Tandem IDE and Apollo 2030, and after 10 years of sitting in the loft it all works fine (apart from the battery which had started leaking and is now removed).
I wanted to sort of PPC it slowly at about 100 quid a month but as all the PPC cards I see are Zorro 111 and A3000/4000 only, is this a dead end?? I have just splashed this months 100 on a brand new (old stock) A1200 with 3.1 and the Magic Pack figuring this would be the best/easiest way to go as I still have a 1200 tower I bought yonks ago in the loft also (can't remember the place I got it from, but the whole Motherboard and lower case sits upright in a slide out tray if that jogs anyones memory?) Now my question is what way would you go?? The A2000 with 2030 already installed or the bare A1200?? Any advice is appreciated. |

Soft Hut (USA) are selling brand new GVP units right now.
To PPC an A2000 you need a Blizzard 2060 (hard to find) and the Blizzard PPC development kit , who is really impossible to find for sale, as only 8 was ever made. For the A1200 there are the Blizzard PPC cards, one 040 @25MHz + PPC @166MHz and the other 060 @50MHz + PPC @ up to 233MHz. Just for curiosity's sake: for what you need a PPC machine? |
