Yes that's right, the 1084/8833 models with SCART input don't need any signal on the blanking pin or any other special pins - they'll work fine with just colours, grounds and sync hooked up.
This is also one of the reasons why they're so great to use for testing arcade PCBs.

I'm having problems getting my scart cable to work also. The tv screen just turns grey when i turn on the power on the Amiga, so it's picking up some kind of signal or else the screen would be blue.

The tv is an Atec 37" LCD, and i would really like to get a better picture than the RF is supplying, which btw is an eyesore

Could it be the same problem that stuntpup had?

well its cured the scrolling green bar and 'no ground' issue
but ...

the inteference pattern is still there .. it comes and goes plus i can see a faint grey bar scrolling up in place of the green one !

will try and take a picture of it later.

@stuntpup

hmmmm i would suggest that combining all the grounds might help. but in truth that cable is as wired as it gets!

hmmmm I think the PS2 AV uses composite ? not RGB..... well mine did so i bought a component.... so its possible likely that 15khz is too low for RGB LCD input....

but do try connecting all the grounds together first

i wondered about the ps2 using composite too .. so i tried an xbox with advanced scart cable and a dreamcast with rgb scart .. they all worked fine

the xbox and ps2 worked in the composite scart too but the dreamcast would only work in the rgb scart..

alas im not messing anymore with it.. its taken too much of my time. I might try to look at other options at some point and not even use the lcd tv at all.
