Removing a disk whilst it's being read shouldn't cause any damage. It's removing whilst writing that causes corruption.

I regret giving away any Commodore unit but back in the days it was the only way to afford an upgrade...

Well, the disk doesn't start anymore. Maybe I send it to you and you argue a little with it that it shouldn't be dead and then it makes it's mind up and starts working again?

I regret giving my A500 in 1996
I regret deeply selling my A1200 + joysticks + Amiga format mags + hundreds of disks including lots of original games in 1997 for peanut to fund my new pc.......... I regret giving away a A1200 in 2010 to a "friend" who hasn't even used it once....... |

I shouldn't have sold my A3000T. Or I should at least have taken the upgraded DMAC+RAMSEY out and reinstalled the old versions when I sold it. :-)

My biggest Amiga regrets are:
1) Not getting one sooner, I only got one in 1992 and as such missed out on the 'golden years'. 2) Killing my A570 CD-ROM drive by being impatient and turning it 'off' while it was running. 3) Not knowing that vector graphics/structured drawing software could've kept me using the A1200 through my higher education instead of needing a PC to draw the 100's of software design diagrams that my teachers (professors?) were adamant I needed to draw. 4) Buying the wrong upgrades at the wrong time. And last but not least 5) Taking until 2014/2015 for starting to learn how the hardware worked and only getting a paper version of the Amiga HRM just a few weeks ago. |

This thread really tugs at the heart strings
I regret THROWING AWAY my Commodore stuff not just giving it away! I threw away my childhood C64 and original tapes (no copies) My childhood Amiga 500 with 512kb ram expansion and biggest regret My Amiga 1200 with Apollo 1240, 8mb Ram, 3.5" 100MB HDD, surf squirrel and a scsi external CD Rom drive, external floppy drive, microvitek multisync monitor, and stacks of boxed original games and 100s of copies. It may not have been so bad if I kept my data so I could simply rebuild now (and I'm shocked by how expensive Amiga stuff is now) What makes it worse is I recently rediscovered a picture of my setup, which has bought the memories flooding back. The picture mocks how imbecilic I was to throw it all away |

Gave my C64c away
Gave my first A1000 away, nice and white. In early 2000s I Sold my A4000 like new in the box for $400, and got myself a brand spanking new DVD burner (they were expansive back then). Was a good idea at the time, but not right now. |

as this thread shows, we all have many regrets hehe
financially I had to sell off quite a few games around 2005, included north & south, super cars, monkey island and about 10 cd32 games. also heaved boxes of floppy disks at the tip. I kept a few but think I lobbed a few disks that contained source code of games me and a friend coded years ago when i see the prices they fetch now it stings! slowly replacing them but not going to be shafted by ebay prices! this followed completely mislaying the whereabouts of my a1200 with 030 card. I moved house, it went in the loft and never seen again, bah. |

About ten years ago I gave my A500, owned since I was 14, to my brother and after a while he lent it to someone else that never gave it back to him...
There were also my favorite joysticks, games, etc... Since then I bought other A500s and much more stuff than I had in the days but I miss my "original" A500. |

I gave my CD32 to my 2 young cousins whose parents couldn’t afford to get them a games machine. It got completely trashed. Some years later I asked if they still had it, but the console was long gone. They gave me back some of the games, but the state of the discs is horrendous. I’ve kept them, but I think they’re too badly scratched to ever be playable again.

Oh man there are many...
Amiga wise im still not sure whatever happend to my original machine. Went to uni came back and it was gone. My folks swore they never threw it out so ive got to think its up in the loft but they've had that fibreglass roof stuff put up in there so i need to get some protective gear to go looking. I did get an A600 from a car boot with a lot of games and stupidly traded it in to Electronics Boutique for absolute peanuts Now general game collecting there are so many... Selling my massive dreamcast collection including many white label promo disc for £50 to a uni friend in order to fund a boozy weekend away. Not getting a boxed Atari Jaguar, with CD add on, 3DO with loads of games plus a massive box of boxed SNES games for £50 because i was so stubborn in trying to get them down to £40. Having to sell some prize car boot finds like a boxed copy of Steel Battalion, boxed copy of Castlevania 3 on the NES when i lost my job |

Regret #1: Selling my original A500 and the collection of games to upgrade to a used 386 DX33.
Can't kick myself too much as that's just what we did back then. Sell one thing to finance the next. The Amiga (for games) was dying.....but looking back NOW, I wish I'd got an A1200 instead. Regret #2: Throwing out the A500 my boss gave me in the early 2000's when they were worthless. He gave it to me rather than throw it out, and it had a 2MB ram upgrade in it. I threw it out when we moved to Australia. I tried to give stuff like that to charity shops but they weren't allowed to take anything electrical. Idiots. Regrat #3: Not bidding higher on the Psygnosis A1200 on ebay recently lol....but I now dont need a divorce so that's good |

At the end of the 90's, not realising the damage a leaking battery can do to an A4000 motherboard.
Selling a nice 1200 030 card for peanuts when I was broke and not using it. Pretty sure I've moaned about this stuff on EAB before... |

Not too many regrets with Amiga stuff. Had two CD32s and let them go for about £50 each but they were with original caps and not 100% condition.
I've kept my original Amiga A500+, and collected extra machines over the years and not felt I lost out I have messed up a few times on consoles however! |

Quit your whining.
It's all available via emulation now. Redirect your energy into researching and explaining (step-by-step) how to install emulators on modern platforms. It's a f*cking nightmare trying to get these working on Windows 8+. |
