WOW! Now this made me smile - thank you ever so much!

As I'm not French I guess I can't enter, but i'll look forward to seeing those hi-scores (although all the scores are beating my son "LEO" at the game)

Yeah probably

...don't forget I easily clocked your game though when it was 64 levels and you had to then bump up the difficulty

You can enter the competition. Only the hi-score screen-shoot is needed

I don't think I seen that... and I bet you were using a trainer!

Proof is in a Youtube vid!

It's quite a weird feeling watching other people beat me at a game that I programmed though.

There was no trainer available; you were still in beta stages...

Remember my post in this thread

Is that the end of the game currently?

Just checked the source code and for some reason I have it commented out.

Will put it back in mate - sorry about that.

I think I need to increase the difficulty though - nobody should be able to get that high up in the game that easy.

I'll adjust it for the next release... which will be ...errr.... tonight.

Previously I wasn't able to get this game to work on my Amiga 500 since it had a NTSC Fat Agnus, but I upgraded to a PAL Fat Agnus and it works great. Very fun.

Ooof I thought I had a good score after a few goes with 244,840. Then I looked at that French competition's score. Clearly need to try harder.

I just wanted to stop by and say how impressed I am with this game. It's not arcade perfect but I think that impresses me more because I know it's not "just" an emulation. I sat there earlier just watching the messages on the attract screen all the way through, it was that mesmerising!

My initial reaction when I spotted this thread yesterday was "can we have Starforce next?" given that it's written on the same arcade hardware. But since this isn't emulation then I guess it doesn't work like that. If someone could pull off Starforce at this quality then that would be stunning - I rate it as one of the best shooters from the 80's / 90's

I might try the compo out. It doesn't hurt to try for a high score.

Edit: My antivirus blocked a trojan on Amigafrance, but it could be a false positive. I don't know.

Edit again: I got 69,030 points. I'll try harder.
Edit again again. I got 97220 points. I'll update if I get the high score.

Many thanks for the kind words.

Starforce is indeed a great game, porting it close to arcade perfect would be possible but then I'd argue that the Amiga already has two legendary shmups in its catalog with Hybris and Battle Squadron and I doubt I could top those games as far as technical quality and play-ability is concerned.

For those interested in my next project and who might not have stumbled on it I'm currently porting Rygar for the Amiga Game Compo (I am probably just about over the half way mark).

This is exactly why people shouldn't be allowed on Youtube (including me because I search for my own games)

The guy doesn't slate the game, but he sure as hell doesn't have a clue about the origins of Bomb Jack FFS!!!!

So I port an arcade game and the he wonders where the fucking keyboard controls are... what a knob comparing it to the Amstrad version.

Jeesus!!! He'll probably think Rygar is ported from the Amstrad as well!

Some people are just clueless. Off to bed.

Actually a really entertaining watch for all the wrong reasons and apparently the graphics are based on but scaled down from the C64! I want to watch more of his reviews...

"...is OK to play. Still no was as good as the Amstrad CPC version tho."
LOL.
It's ok that everybody has his favourite platform, but this is ludicrous.

It's like saying the Mona Lisa is ok, but not as nice as my little daughter drawing my wife.

Complains about missing key support:
- on winuae you can easily map it
- on hardware everybody I know wants to use the joystick for a game like that
So, wtf?

Edit: Just watched the whole video. Don't take him too seriously. He's not overcritical, but clueless, never played the arcade version , doesn't seem like a good player (on this game) and really likes the Amstrad version (it's easier ). Now thats just his major reference. His visual range doesnt reach the arcade version, which you nailed with your cover. Forget about this review. Different people have different views. In this case it's not that I dont share it, I even can laugh at it a bit.
