Anyone tried to use wireless Megadrive pads?

Just wondering if anyone had ever tried wireless megadrive pads with the Amiga or CD32?

If so which make / model?

I haven't, but it's a good idea. Is it safe to just plug the mega drive pads straight in? If so, I'll have a look on ebay to see what I can see and if they dont work I'll just use them on the mega drive.

Nope, you need to make an interface. It is very small and easy to do:

MEGADRIVE pads, not PSX dummy

I know that Megadrive pads work fine in Amiga without modification, slight mods are required if you want to support two fire buttons and lots if you want CD32 multi-button.

The second generation Megadrive pads (with 6 buttons) doesn't work. If anyone knows how to make them work, let me know

If standard 6 button pads work then there is no reason the wireless ones won't either.

But you must remember that the MD wireless pads have a wireless receiver for both pads which won't fit into the spacing on an amiga's joystick ports so you'd need to use some extension leads or something similar.

If we are talking about the pads here:

Not so, two of the buttons on a Megadrive pad work fine if the software supports it.

I remember two buttons working on my Mega Drive pads when plugged into my A500, I didn't do any mods.

My mistake, if two buttons work then to activate the third must have required a mod?

I know CD32 pad uses a serial interface to enable extra buttons.

Sure, or a third party one like this

What was worrying me was the Power, I think these get their power from the joyports and just wanted to make sure that the Amiga could provide the power on the correct pins to enable them to work.

If I remember correctly it doesn't work at all - nothing. I can try again later today (bought Megadrive just for the joypads).

I tried to use a 3- button Arcade power stick on my A1200. It powered up (lights) but the amiga wouldn't boot.

Apparently I need an adapter which I've not got round to getting yet. Something to do with circuit protection.

They do so. I've been using them for years on both C64 and Amiga.

Guys you are correct. 6-button SMD gamepad works 100%. I bought brand new SMD with two of these controllers and tried only one. Now I tried the second and it works. I guess the 1st one is defective.

Since I never used gamepads - only joysticks (Amiga, Atari) and keys on PC - I'm really bad at playing Xenon II with it Practice makes perfect?
