Eagle? Does Eagle actually have support for controlled impedance traces and termination simulation? The A4000 motherboard has a ton of series source-terminated signals. Any PCB designed without this type of simulation is going to be flakey aos shit.

We won't even go into the fact that the CBM custom chips output structures aren't documented anywhere, and will need to be characterized.

Could we set up some test where we measured a list of signals (source and destination(s) ), comparing original and new boards with the same configuration, using a scope with sufficient bandwidth?

Would that not give us at least some indication of whether the signal integrity has changed (for better or worse) with the new boards (hese and replica)?

Of course this is not an easy undertaking, there are several properties of a signal needed to be taken into consideration, + timing properties of custom chips and more.

The design work is all being done in PADs with a conversion to Altium and Eagle. Eagle was asked for by a lot of people, and they said they can convert it over at the end. That's all of it done for eagle is. After all the angry emails I got for no eagle support and now I get some for getting it too? I don't get that. I'll release what they do, people can do with it as they wish at that point.

If everything works out well, the same could be considered for the A3000 also. A great many of those have been affected by severe battery leaks and replacement boards are not easy to come by.

The most important part about doing any kind of service for the Amiga scene is, just provide your well-specified service at the full extent of the scope you specified and forget about the feedback. :-P

This is a great idea, some 3ks are really quite far gone.

Any plans to do this for A500+ going forward? I suspect the new A500 case project would do better with new motherboards available to go in them.

It was already done for the 500+ and they just decided not to release files or new boards from my understanding. Not sure why.

That is great! I can print this on my Prusa i3 Easily! Would love to give it a try.

Yep, just did that to check geometry, you'll need to split it in half on the Prusa as the bed is too small to do it in one go, but it's not far off for the first attempt

I think that's the plan. They will be available in a variety of formats including Eagle, if I've understood it right.

We need open source implementations of the custom chips next!

Okay, A4000D front covers attached - both stl and .step files are included.

The split file is designed to be split in half so will fit on a smaller volume printer - split it at 190.7 to get it exactly in half, and print the clips out to align and strengthen the joint - superglue works great on both petg and PLA.

I’ll upload these to Thingiverse and github shortly
