I still run the A4000 I bought brand new in 1995.

Back then it was a 24MHz 030 with 6Mb RAM, and a 14.4K Maestro modem to dial up to FidoNet, local BBSs and the Uni's Lynx internet browsing service.

Now it's a 200MHZ PPC/ 50MHz 060 with 80Mb RAM, running OS3.9 with a Thylacine USB, Xsurf card linked to my broadband router, CD/DVD Drive, Picasso IV card and two HDDs (one IDE, one SCSI).

I use it for everything - from playing FRONTIER, DUNE II and F/A-18 Interceptor (amazing that the original disk purchased in 1987 still works!), to web browsing and email to just mucking about.

Instead of the 1942 Monitor I bought with it, I've linked it up to an LCD Monitor. The 1942 is in the museum/ spare parts shed now, along with another 4 A4000s, 1 A4000 MB, 3 A1200s, 3 A500s and an A1000.

I migrated from the C-64 to the A500 in 1987 with an A500/ 1084/ 1Mb RAM expansion.

Then upgraded to an A1200HD/40, then the A4K.

Emulator, schmemulator. The only emulator worth exploring is C64.com, so you can play "Theatre Europe" on your laptop mid-flight....

Brought my first Amiga, the A600 back in 1993, upgraded to the A1200 a couple of years later. Still have 2 A1200's, both accelerated & still have an A500 too. I would still have an A600 but my brother threw it away without asking me if I wanted it, can't believe he chucked it lol

They all work perfectly still, but mainly stick to using winUAE as real hardware is hard to replace if it goes wrong, & I'd hate for my Blizzard 1260 to kick the bucket

Wow.. havn't been on this board in a loooong long time
Great to see things are still going solid!
Well my gf left me a long time ago so I figured I'd take the opportunity to appease my fetish for real amiga hardware/software.. as you do lol
Well I already had 2 500's, a 1200 and 4000 - but in the past year I've aquired an a1000, a2000, a3000T, a600, a1200, cd32, 7x a500's, and a bucketload of hardware and software..
Amiga is better then sex? I should bloody well hope so

Amiga 1200, blizzard (I think) accelerator with 68EC030 CPU, 8 megs RAM, 2 Gig hard drive (just about internal), dopus workbench.
Main use? - not at all now as I have transfered the hard drive contents onto PC using WinUAE and use that for gaming.

i dont own A real amiga. i own lots of real amigas... how can i answer the poll??

a1200s, cd32s a500s and a4000s mostly. in various states of dis-repair.

the a1200 with 030 and 24meg fast gets the most (ab)use.

My main Amiga is an A1200 with an Apollo 040/33 card, 32MB fast RAM, 2.1GB internal 2.5" hard drive, external floppy drive, a Squirrel with a CD-ROM drive attached, one of those neat joystick/mouse switcher things, and an adaptor to use a PC mouse in the mouse port.

I mainly use it for gaming, programming, and writing. But I use it for quite a lot of things overall.

I also have two broken 1200s and a 500+ (also broken).

Rev5A A500, Rev6 A500 w/ 501 and A590, two CD32s, A1200HD40 w/ 110Mb drive, 8Mb fast, FPU and RTC. Nothing earth shattering, but I love them all equally.

I have not voted & can't recall posting, so here goes.

Had 2x A500s, but they gave me the sh*ts and got sold on eBay.

I've now got a towerised A600 (external connectors not finished yet, due to me being lazy ).
It's very basic so far and has:
2.05/3.1 Kickstart switch/ROMs,
2x internal FDDs,
Switch to turn DF1 off when the noise becomes annoying and to preserve it when not required,
CF card and laptop-style 44 pin IDE adaptor for HDD,
PC keyboard adaptor,
Planning on installing a CD drive...one day
I'd like a RAM expansion, but they seem pretty hard to find & expensive for 600s, but once I get one I think that'll be enough for me.

Additionally, I have a regular "keyboard" A600 with 3.1 ROM and CF card for HDD installed, but still waiting on the floppy drive from overseas (set up the CF in tower and then transferred to A600 due to lack of installed FDD to do it in place).

I won an Amiga 1200 (Kick 3.0) last week on eBay for 51 €. But the best thing is: A good friend of mine still has an Amiga 1200 with Kickstart 3.1 & 6 GB hardisk. He will sell it to me, only 20 €.

Another friend donated me his trusty Amiga 500 some month ago. I'm very happy with the hardware.

Stayed true with the 1000, never bought anything else, except a 1200 which I briefly owned for a couple months, then sold because I needed cash fast.
