i want my apollo 1240 to be a 1260 holy god!
maybe he doesn't stand the fact that apollo 1240 are far better than any of his aca 030. 030 is to weak to allow mutlimedia use of the amiga. what 030 can't, 040-60 do! |

i dont really understand what your trying to say here. if theres a 040 on the card then it will half the clock,if not then its supposed to 1 on 1 with the exception of 50mhz 060 which is supposed to be in the 060 position. im only saying this because the cards power jumper is set for 5 volts still. other than that its a hardware problem.if it doesent work in 060 mode. |

PGHume used to make them over at Amiga.Org and Amibay
Make sure you have a Mach 131 and not Mach 130 chip as the latter is an older version which can't be upgraded to 060 |

Yes it can, several people have upgraded their Mach 130 Apollos to 060. It depends on the program code inside the chip whether it's upgradeable or not.

I don't think he did? He hates them. He's just the rights holder now having bought them?

As far as my limited knowledge goes, Jens had no hand in designing or developing any of the ACT / Apollo range of accelerators. Jens accelerator development has been specifically based around the low end CPU's such as the 68020 and the 68030 - the later of which has very little difference in processing power. While Individual Computers has released some pretty fast 030, fast memory, low latency near zero wait state implementations - the company has not ventured into 68040 or 68060 processor based accelerator cards. This is likely a three fold reason, where getting these CPU's is increasingly expensive even in modest quantities, finding said quantities of these depreciated CPU's and finally the complexity of the logic to get it to function on a wide range of A1200's. Personally my favourite product from Individual Computers is the ACA620 - its a little stick of dynamite for one's A600! |
