Can the Amiga 1200 run spectrum/amstrad games?

Is the Amiga 1200 fast enough to run emulated Amstrad and Spectrum games if so, can you?

The ultimate retro system lol

Well, if there was a C64 emulator for the A1200, I don't see why not, but I have no idea of what spec you would have needed for it, also I have no idea if there were any Spectrum or Amstrad emulators made for it anyway.

Aminet Amstrad emulator for Amiga >> http://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/Ami-CPC

There was definately good Spectrum emulators that worked fine and as far as I can remember it ran well on my A1200, many years ago.

I think it was ZXAM or Speculator I used to play Zynaps on!

Although ASP is supposed to be the best one http://www.lasernet.plus.com/asp.html

ZXAM Spectrum & ASP both great Spectrum Emulators will run very well on your new ACA1232/25

You can also try CoolNES, AmiMasterGear(MasterSystem/GG Emulator) and AmiGameBoy.

All work fine on my ACA1232/33

Nes is a little slow & not the best compatibility.

I don't know any Amstrad Emulators but must be out there.

I have a complete Speccy CD for Amiga 1200 somewhere and there is also a C64 Emulator on it, but only trial version. Speccy emulator is full version. I would have to search for it if you want it and you would have to guide me where to upload it and how, since I am not very fit with all that modern whereabouts and certainly I would have to look where I have the time for it, so bear with me.

I remember having a disk from a pd library years ago that had quite a few speccy games and an emulator on it, jet set willy ran fine on a 1mb a500 so a 1200 wouldnt struggle at all.

Found the CD. There is like 100 or more Speccy games on it, also some C64 stuff, several Amiga Spectrum Emulators. It also seems to be equipped for PC usage (1998). If anybody wants it leave a message on this channel.

the best spectrum emulator is ASP but it requires at least a 040/25mhz for full speed
if you have a 020 or 030 try zxam which is fantastic

for amstrad the best one is emucpc07 on aminet...but you need a 030/50mhz for full speed

Here's a question!

Can the emulator/software be run directly from a PCMCIA through the Amiga?

Yep

I've uploaded a new Video on Youtube showing some 3D Games and Master System Emulator running on the ACA1232

You can see it in this thread:

Oh awesome Thanks! I want to be able to play Amstrad games through the PCMCIA

Looks like I need to save up a little then, might as well keep the internal 4GB as is

By the way Fitz, you missed out on Pirates CD32 and kept pirates standard, they look almost completely different

Yeah there just isn't space for the whole pack on a 4gb CF card so most CD32 were removed to make space, you can always add the odd ones that you like, you can download them pre-installed and transfer them with the PCMCIA Kit, you can even run them direct from PCMCIA like your Emulators, etc

Not really you can buy the CF card for <£10 and the adapter for about £2-£3, you already have the drivers installed on your HDD (they're included with Classic Workbench)

CF Card = £6 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/sandisk-co...item338205755c
PCMCIA adapter = £3.89 (UK) can get cheaper from Hong Kong, but I know you like your stuff fast...

Or I should have spare here you can have for £2.50

My spare CF's sadly don't work in PCMCIA

If you have a spare PCMCIA that works I can buy I'll pay you right now, for fast delivery

So all I need then is a sandisk, why doesn't your spare ones work btw?
