Are you on 3.1 or 3.1.4 ?

I've added some instructions for 3.1.4 to https://github.com/steffest/amiga/tr...%20Themes/CD32

You can remove the border of the icons through
  • prefs/Workbench
  • In the "Icons" section on the right set the option "Border Size" to "No
    Border"

You can make the labels below the icons transparent through
  • prefs/Font
  • -> Select Workbench Icon Text
  • -> set "Mode" to "Text" (instead of Text+Field)

Your text colors look indeed a little different - not quite sure why.
I'll do some more tests on 3.1

The Trash and the Expansion Icon are apparently NewIcons instead of ColorIcons.
I guess I messed up there - I'll post here when I have an update.

Anyway, There are lots of manual steps involved ... , annoying, right !?
I should probably look into some install scripts or something, or maybe find a "theme installer" application.
Thanks!

I'm trying this out on 3.1.4 but will probably try it on 3.1 for my real CD32.

I think my text colours have something to do with CopperDemon not set up correctly. I put CopperDemon in WBStartup so the GUI for it pops up every time I start WB, I'm sure there's an easy fix for that, I didn't look into it yet.

EDIT: I found the answer to how to not show the Copper Demon at boot: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=92552

I don't think the manual steps are too bad, I appreciate that you are making the theme available. Even if I'm a long time Amiga user I'm quite unfamiliar with all WB tweaks etc.

CooperDemon seems to have a bug, in that it saves prefs only to ENV: and not to ENVARC: - just a heads up if you experience that you prefs are not saved.

I'm just not getting it to work properly

- Not able to remove background of icons:
I'm sorry, there is no Workbench in my prefs? Did BetterWB remove this?
- Icons default to wrong colors on startup, only when selected show right color. (Regardless of 32 colors or more)
- Active Windows show wrong color.

Followed every step, apart from the above mentioned missing prefs/workbench.

System is a AOS 3.1 + BetterWB CD32.

To get transparent backgrounds for your icons on WB 3.1 you need the NewIcons patch, ENVARC:NewIcons.prefs, Prefs/NiPrefs and NiRTGSet. You can find all that on my IconDemoA1200.adf floppy image:

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=64079

Check the startup-sequence and the contents of that disk for missing files on your system.

The palette on my Demo is, of course, different to that used here. So don't copy FullPalette.prefs if you prefer this new color theme here.

.
BetterWB does not have Workbench Prefs, nor does OS 3.1 have Workbench Prefs. Workbench Prefs is present on OS3.5, 3.9 and 3.1.4.
The author of the Skin CD32 installed OS 3.1.4 on BetterWB.

If you have installed OS 3.1 with BetterWB to create the configuration of the CD32 you must follow the advice of "PeterK".

If you do not have OS 3.1.4 and you want to quickly configure the Skin CD32 you can use an OS based OS 3.9, see the screenshot

I did, but it still shows as in my screenshot above. Maybe it's caused by me first showing an image as splash screen when booting. Would this screw up the palette?

a few weeks ago this icon installer appeared on aminet: http://aminet.net/package/util/wb/TRULS

This seems like exactly the thing I was looking for so yes: an installer script is next on my list (I have a bunch of new icons too)

And indeed: It was made on top of OS 3.1.4 and bestWB so on 3.1/BetterWB things might be a little different. I'll do some more testing on 3.1.

That splash screen ? how many colors did you use for the Workbench (screenmode)?

SYS:Prefs/Font (Fonts prefs)

This should also solve your other requests

I use this command early in my startup, before running WB:

PHP Code:
C:Picboot Sys:Media/CD32splash2.iff DETACH DELAY 35 PATCH FADEIN 2 FADEOUT 2 VO ON
Splash screen is 256 colors.

WB shows same behaviour with 32, 64, 128, 256 colors.

Wallpaper looks fine, drive icons don't, until one is selected. Icons in drawers show ok right from the start. But active window is in different color than in steffest screenshots.

Update: when disabling the picboot in ss Icons indeed show in correct colors. However I still have them with a background, the newicon stuff did not fix that.
And I also still have the wrong (active) window color.

So how can I reset the palette after the splash screen?

Do you have a Kickstart Rom from Hyperion with a workbench.library 40.6? That WB never gives transparent backgrounds.

What happens when you boot from my IconDemoA1200.adf? Are the backgrounds of the icons transparent?
