Codename: Iceman (Sierra)
I know that game has protection. I'd like to remove it without playing it too much
If someone has some information about it? - when does it occur (and can someone provide a savegame just before if possible) - is there a cracked version somewhere? (versions I downloaded on TOSEC don't show obvious modifications) |

I played it BitD with a friend but can't remember any "code wheel" like or "manual" like protection. Also we never finished it - it was difficult for two FR speaking boys to understand the UK manual with the UK knowledge we had at that time (now it would be different I think )
As I remember it, the protection is more "action" related. Without reading the manual (and having it under the hand) while playing, it's impossible to progress. Too many "marine" phrasing/attitude to know. |

there are level codes.

And yes, you may not have encountered them because this game is super-hard! |

maybe code protection are on BlackHawk
":NOTE: These copy protection codes are taken from the CODENAME: Iceman U.S.S. Blackhawk Technical Manual. They are reproduced here for easier reading." i installed the game on harddisk and i thouth it was already cracked, but after your post this game should be played to see if there is a cracked version or not. The code protection i found in the Manual of DOS version. In the Manual of Amiga and Atari ST version there aren't these codes. edit (6:04am): maybe the code protection are here (from Atari ST solution): " TO DECODE MESSAGES GO TO CAPTAIN'S QUARTERS - OPEN SAFE WITH COMBO - 23448803 - OPEN CASE WITH COMBO - 762134 - INSERT ID - INSERT FILM - (write the offsets down, yours will be 'N' = 3 because you are Navy). WASHINGTON 1. Your message will consist of TWO GROUPS of THREE LETTERS. Write them down. LOOK DECODER BOOK IN YOUR INVENTORY. 2. Replace FIRST GROUP of THREE LETTERS from the code with the corresponding number from the Decoding Book. Those THREE NUMBERS represent PAGE NUMBER, LINE and WORD. 3. Look at the MANUAL for the PAGE INDICATED. Find the LINE and WORD. That is your PRIMARY WORD. 4. Repeat steps 1 - 3 for the SECOND GROUP of THREE LETTERS. That is your SECONDARY WORD. 5. Enter PRIMARY and SECONDARY words into the computer in your quarters. C.I.A. 1. Your message will consist of TWO GROUPS of THREE LETTERS. Write them down. Read the decoding book in your possession. 2. Replace the FIRST GROUP of THREE LETTERS from the code with the corresponding numbers in the decoding book. Add the C.I.A. offset to the number you get from the decoding book (be sure to select the 'N' for NAVY offset). (Anytime you get a number greater than 10, subtract 10 and the remaining number is your TRUE number). Those THREE numbers represent PAGE, LINE and WORD. 3. Look at the MANUAL for the PAGE indicated. Find the LINE and the WORD. That is your PRIMARY WORD. 4. Repeat steps 1 - 3 for the SECOND GROUP of THREE LETTERS. That is your SECONDARY WORD. 5. Enter PRIMARY and SECONDARY words into the computer in your quarters. (Shortly, it means ALWAYS. For the C.I.A. codes count PLUS THREE)" Last edited by Seiya; 28 April 2020 at 06:15. |

yeah. Smart way to absolutely require the manual.
note that if someone provides with a gamesave just before this step, I may find a workaround. For rocket ranger for instance, I added a key to display the codes as image when pressed But is that worth? game seems hard as nails. |
