3d filter in emulation ?
I mean, is it possible to create a filter for mame or any other emulator to create the 3d effect for 3d glasses with red and blue ? Or could it be possible one day ???
Perhaps, why not ????? |

The Amiga 500 game Air Support had an Anaglyph 3D option. The box included a pair of red-blue glasses, as well. Wireframe or wireframe fill 3D

I'm rather skeptical about the possibility of adding generic support in the emulator to provide 3D effects using red/blue glasses either. Again, the images need to be rendered differently for the left and right eye to get the effect you want, and I can't see how the emulator could intelligently make the necessary adjustments to the image. Of course you could always write new code that did so, but getting the old games to run in 3D without rewriting them isn't at all likely. |

Wanderer used red/blue glasses. I'm sure I remember playing N64 games using Nvidias 3d filter once too.

If there are multiple playfields/layers and sprites/objects aren't mixing between them some pseudo 3d (Like layer separation, not object depth) should be possible. It would probably work better on arcade hardware (neo-geo) but some amiga games should also work fine.
Back layer gets no depth, next layer some and so on. The filter would have settings for degree of stereo separation for the layers (0 as flat or don't do depth for that layer, negative positive). That should make it somewhat generic, since a user could tweak the setting per game. Last edited by spiff; 10 August 2011 at 01:12. |

Cheap red + green plastic glasses are enough to see 3D effect in this video of Space Spuds. Effect is not impressive but easily visible.

The no glasses cross-eyed/parralel method works well. Theres a couple of stereo images from the same disk at the end of the video.

The Hardware resource site http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showha...cgi?HARDID=769 Lists raidergame and leandergame as other software which utilises the glasses. Does anyone know where these games can be found ?
