Lightbulb BetterWB - release 2.0

BetterWB release 2.0 - 20.05.2011

BetterWB is a new workbench pack, much like AIAB, Amikit, AmigaSYS, ClassicWB, etc. but applying a totally different aproach. This is a new version which brings many improvements over its ancestor.

It aims to be much like an enhancement, an updated extension to AmigaOS 3.1, without all those hardware requirement penalties tipically associated with these kind of packs. It is indeed a better 3.1 than 3.1 itself!

http://lilliput.amiga-projects.net/BetterWB.htm

This is my pet project, it took me a total of 4 days to assemble. Just voice your opinion, I will be glad to hear your comments, either good or bad.

Thanks

The computers that run lilliput.amiga-projects.net are having some trouble. Usually this is just a temporary problem, so you might want to try again in a few minutes.

I'm temporarily attaching it here until the website is back up.

The text file is HTML. Rename to .htm and load it into your browser to see the release notes.

Edit: Attachment removed as website is now restored.

Nice!! And great work gulliver. Great little pack.

Does that mean PFS3 is kindly now available to add to other packs?

If so, all hail MichielP!!!

Yes, you can include it, just like MorphOS is going to. Look at the distribution conditions on the PFS3 license.

Thank you all again for your encouragement!

It's a great idea and pack. Extending the Workbench disk set to include modern features is something that was missing, but not anymore.

swazinfo won't save default tooltypes, on my system. It lets you change the default tooltype for an application. but it doesn't save it, even when I do save it.

@stefcep2
You are doing something wrong, I have tested it, and it works without problems.

Inside SwazInfo, remember to press the NEW button, then write the tooltype where the cursor is, then press the ENTER key on your keyboard, and after that push the SAVE button.

You have probably missed to press the ENTER key in this tooltype editing procedure.

@ALL

Wouldn't this be a whole lot easier if you could download these disks as dms files? Or am I missing something?

Why would you prefer DMS files? The archive contains uncompressed ADF files, which are just as useful in emulation.

Or, if you're looking to transfer them to your Amiga via 720K DOS-formatted floppies in order to write them to Amiga floppies, you can split the ADF files in half on your PC and then join them together again on your Amiga. Then use a tracksaver utility, such as TSGui to write them to floppies.

In that case, search the web for a file splitting utility for your PC and Aminet for a file joining utility for your Amiga.

You just kind of explained why I was asking about DMS files. It is a whole lot easier to get the files onto disks without searching around for new programs to learn by having the downloadable files in DMS or LHA format. The last I looked Aminet wasn't converted over to ADF yet?
