I think Sillkworm is even better than the arcade port in certain ways, though it's not full-screen like the arcade one.
You could say the same about Rodland too. Terminator 2 is a great port IMO too. I have never played Super Street Fighter 2 turbo, but I was really shocked when I saw the screenshots of it, I would love to see it running, because at least graphically, that thing was looking as good as the 3DO version (I.E. perfect) Never played the arcade version of Super Hang-On, but the Amiga game was lots of fun. Dragon Ninja gameplay was horrible, it was a reall challenge to jump a hole. The contros sucked hard. Shadow Dancer is a great conversion too. Shadow Warriors isn't half bad too, from what I remember of the Amiga version. |

Ok.
Just found the old thread i saw zool in. Only made it to the prototype stage. Checkout http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...ht=zool+arcade for a pic of the cabinet it was in. There is also a cool cd32 arcade cabinet link there to. |

Looks like most have been covered. Marble Madness is a great conversion too...

conversion of ShadowWarriors seemed very good anyway, but kicking system a bit rare. |

@JudasEZT. If you want a disk-drive brow-furrowing game try the Seek & Destroy demo on a "The One" magazine covermount- truly a disk-drive grinding experience! It made C64 disk drive head-banging seem tame in comparison!

Yep, there should be, S.W. instructions reckon "S" key toggles sound,& definitely recall being able to toggle it. Sort of sparse, but nicely done FX.

There should definitely a key that swaps between Music/FX, I've heard it! My memories are vague, but I think Zzap! might've mentioned about there being an error in the instructions & saying the correct key to switch was-it was in their guide in the Pig in a Poke section, but have no idea which issue it was.

I didn't like Final Fight on Amiga either - the removal of many of the moves killed the gameplay. And I found RVH Honda to be impossible to play - the motorbike handled like an oil tanker. But then again, I suck at bike racing games.
I thought MK2 was probably the Amiga's best conversion. |

Mercs was also a pretty decent conversion.

you forgot The New Zealand Story, was very close to the original, cute graphics etc...
Arkanoid was my first wet dream, 1986 it was! Thunderblade wasn't bad either, compared with the complexity of the coin-op version, I didn't expect it to be as good as it turned out to be... It was a bit the opposite feeling I had when I saw the Amiga version of 1943, oh man, what a deception that was! And Operation Wolf was also pretty close to the original. |

Okay, stuff I TOTALLY disagree with first.
DRAGON NINJA? The Amiga version didn't even have the jump function and is unplayable past the first level! Bomb Jack? If you think the Amiga version is even remotely close to the superb arcade game, play it in Mame and see how crap it really is. Silkworm; the Amiga version came FIRST and was converted to the arcade. Akira, the Amiga version of Pacmania DOES show more of the maze (as the screenshot clearly shows), so your "vertical orientation" point is wrong. IMO the Amiga version plays far better than its Arcade counterpart. Frederick, Thunderblade isn't IN Mame yet, certainly not in any playable way - MASSIVE graphic corruption. Thunderblade isn't in MAME, but FinalBurn. Although emulation isn't totally perfect.
I prefer the Amiga version of Silkworm. In the arcade version the sprites are way to big. You could jump in DragonNinja. I found out by incident. But don't ask how to jump, i forgot it again . I never really liked this game, even the arcade version. |

Marlon: You can jump fine in the Amiga version and get past the second level. The game is crap, however it seemed a fairly accurate conversion to me (graphics & sound) in comparision to other conversions - just lacked a few colours, frames of animation and the silky smoothness of the arcade. Not the best, but definately worth a mention in this thread IMO.

You've all got to agree though that we're quite spoilt, don't you think?
I mean having the ability to play Amiga games AND their Arcade originals at the touch of a button is quite something :P |
