I know this was an old comment.

But an enhanced 16 bits port of the MSX version of Salamander (Much like Nemesis Kai on the X68000 was for MSX Gradius 2) would be freaking amazing.

Salamander on MSX is an AWESOME game hindered by hardware limitations. Someone recently patched it to add smooth scrolling and no slowdowns when playing on an MSX2+. But a proper Amiga version of that... oh my God, it would be among the best shooters on the system by far.

If this is a wish thread.

I wish you would help bitbeam cannon with their game daemon claw.

They have come far with art, and probably some gameplay. But they seem to be making it in amos, which sounds a bit unrealistic if classic amiga is the goal.

Rygar looks very similar, maybe you could reuse some of that code.

Something completely different:
I just played Spy vs Spy (part 1) It's nice and fun but it was written in 1984 and it shows.
The graphics, character movement (only 4 instead of 8 directions) and main menu (sluggish) could be improved a lot.

I still think Power Spikes would be a great game to be ported to Amiga (not that I am asking or demanding anyone to do it, just doing small talk about the subject )

A) It's very good, very fun to play
B) It's fun to play against a friend
C) There's only one indoor volleyball game on Amiga and it's kinda crap. (Not counting the Beach Volleyball games, which I think there's only two anyway, and only one is good)
D) The hardware can handle it. The game has some parallax which, frankly, can be ignored, and the whole arcade rom is around 1mb of size (Which would be smaller on Amiga with less colors etc)
E) The controls:

It's a real shame no one licensed this back at the day. It's a perfect candidate to an Amiga port.

In The Hunt had massive slowdowns on the Playstation port, and while it was a 1993 game, no one even dared trying to port it to a Mega Drive or SNES

Can't see any vanilla Amiga handling that without massive cutdowns.

I was playing Splatterhouse on Mame other day and I also thought it could easily work on Amiga, and you have the PC Engine version to look on what to cut to still make it work.

The creeping Red stuff that comes from left and chases the player could be a bit of a challenge.

If you try to do it exactly like its on the arcade, yes. It has transparency and it slowly takes the whole screen.

I don't remember how the PC Engine does it, but I don't think you need to draw it completely in a frame. Make it tiled in different blocks, and draw different blocks on different frames. The blocks could even maybe flicker, it could pass as transparency, hehe.

Or just make it something completely different. Make it a tall sprite that doesn't slowly takes the whole screen, but it's thin and chases the player, like some bolt lightining or purple plasma wall or a wall of spikes or something.

No, it's not transparency, it's switching on-off in fast pace (blinking). Take a look on this screenshot when it's not transparent at all (in "on" state)

Similar method was used in Turrican 3 for water in sewers. In overall it looks like transparency, but it's just blinking.

Not this again

There's already a thread to discuss this and why it would be a impossible task for any model Amiga: NeoGeo Metal Slug conversion to Amiga 500 - madman task ;-)

Not much chance of getting a license as it looks like Bandai Namco are rebooting it. A lot of work but willing to do it if I could get a license.

https://www.thesixthaxis.com/2019/09...er-wagan-land/

Edit:

You know - how on Earth are you supposed to get a license to port an arcade game when they won't even deal with you on principle of being an individual???

Look at this from Sega...

https://sega-license.com/en/question/

So literally...If I had a million quid, they still wouldn't let me port one of their games to the Amiga.

I suppose the route in all this is to create a game studio, create a game... then apply for a license.

It's really not doing the retro community any good - or homebrew developers.

Sonic the Hedgehog got a 3D remake a while ago which is still being worked on by one man, with Sega's blessing. They're usually pretty good about that sort of thing.

Is because we are not doing big $$$ so we are just nuisance i think;
there is still IMHO the good'ol way of clones like in the 8 bit times, though: is not a 1:1 port is not faithful and platform is small so the name is not making noise; was thinking in the Amiga days to do a clone of Splatterhouse and call it Friday the 17th; should not make too much noise at least at the beginning

And we can also take more freedom in changing stuff since is not an 1:1 port
