I'd like to share with you a brilliant song from 1984 about well... social anxiety disorder, not quite the Tony Montana kind but paranoia to a certain degree, some may be familiar with the feeling hehe :

One can hear the great late Michael Jackson singing a verse, but he didn't claim it, sort of unsuccessful cooperation attempt between him, Germaine and Rockwell (the song did hit the big time in the charts though after Rockwell was allowed to rework it).

I've heard the reworked version a million times. Don't think I've seen this original version. It sounds great..

Also Queensryche with Silent Lucidity, this is a tune that my mother actually liked.

Then there is Soundgarden with Black Hole Sun.
Blackhole Sun was song from 90s. While Soundgarden and Nirvana both formed in 80s, all popular songs are from 90s. Another of my favorite formed in 90s - Alice in the chain. Interestingly, all 3 lead singers are now dead.

Post links for youtube, please.

This is the original 80's version, they later changed the lyrics because they were not confident with it.

Michael Jackson - Rock with You (1979)
... though for me, the absolute best version is from the late South African trumpet player Hugh Masekela. Don't get me wrong, Quincy Jones arrangements on the album this was taken from are top notch (as always).

Gary Moore - Parisianne Walkways (1979)
Trottoir is a male type name, so it ought to be "Parisiens Walkways" but anyway. Song was often aired on radio during the late 90s.

Samantha Fox - I wanna have some fun (1988), noticed ross mentioned Sabrina one-hit wonder, well I feel Samantha Fox deserves a mention too as she was IMHO a full-fledged artist musically speaking, not just a pair of boobs on high heels.

U2 feat. David Howell Evans aka the Edge - Numb (1993), not a huge fan of U2 myself, except with the Joshua Tree, they never really were hitting top gear, it's a bit sad they gave up on rock music that way, in a snap so to speak.

True, but then I could ask you to consider the range of that particular decade of pop music in its nominal sense .
According to Wikipedia :

Code:
Particularly in the 20th century, a nominal decade is often used to refer not just to a set of ten years but rather to a period of about ten years -
for example, the phrase the sixties often refers to events that took place between around 1964 and 1972, and to memories of the counterculture,
flower power, protests of 1968 and other things happening at the time.
Btw, I just replaced "a forest" YT link by the one of the album version.
