Hi,

I tried to help a friend setup his Mediator 1200SX with an ACA1230 and we couldn't get it going, considering I'm pretty experienced with the Mediator drivers and configs from my various setups in the past I'd say that the ACA1230 isn't compatible.

Also the 030 is a little under powered for a Mediator setup, you will get a nice 2D 24bit RTG workbench but no power to run anything meaningful.

I highly recommend selling the 1230 and putting the money towards a Blizzard 1260 or PPC so you can enjoy the Mediator to it's full potential.

Or keep the ACA1230 for a nice Wedge A1200 setup

Good luck with your project,

Steve.

Thanks fitzsteve

I feared that it I try all and no luck

and I know 030 not powerfull for mediator 100% but between I find a 060 or PPC was my option.

have to wait my A1200 mediator project

many thanks again.

all the best

In case you can get easily the following cards I can assure you that the Mediator works with these as I have personally tested:

Apollo 1240
Blizzard 1230 MkIV
Blizzard 1240
Blizzard 1260
Blizzard PPC 060/040 REV-0 and REV-2
Typhoon 1230 MkII

Only 1260 and above is powerful enough to use Warp3D (if that interests you)

1260/PPC can be hard to find but they do come up on Amibay frequently, the prices have jumped up recent years but still some good deals to be had if you're paitent.

Which version ACA1230 do you have by the way? (Just out of interest)

Steve.

I waited years to get my A1200 Tower project completed! I'd recommend a BPPC having one on my 1200TX and with RTG on Workbench it's absolutely brilliant! I got my BPPC for €620 off amibay so a decent price and was clocked at 333/60.

Like Steve says, you have to be patient for these cards to appear!

Lol I was sooo tempted to pull you up on ptice dring then, doh it's not Amibay

I got my original BPPC 060/240PPC with 256mb Ram, SCSI, etc for £450 I thought that was madness at the time.

If you can find an 040/PPC 160 then it could be cheaper to get it upgraded to 060 and faster PPC by Stachu100 (he is a member of these boards)

The same with Blizzard 1240, you can also upgrade it to 060, Stan's done mine and it now runs up to 75mhz latest revision 060 (currently 66mhz to prolong it's life a little)

But you still paid £450 for it didn't you

Mine was the only one that I could afford at the time and as it was maxed out PPC wise with 256mb ram I just grabbed it and have no regrets yet! It had no scsi though, which I didn't really need and worked out about £500 at the time which, compared to the price you paid, wasn't too bad!

I think you done pretty well there mate, especially with the 330mhz PPC

Prices fluctuate quite a lot so I'm sure the OP will get a good deal if can wait a bit.

If I told you what I picked up my old Power Tower with BPPC (040/160) and BVision for you would cry. It got the Stan makeover as soon as I got it

That was the one I had in my Wedge A1200 (without SCSI)

Some regtests for selling it all last year but had to pay the bills lol.

That's the problem, you have to wait! I never thought I'd actually get my A1200 in a Tower but suddenly all the bits started to become available and that 'one day' finally arrived and I managed to build an A1200 Tower!

I got my Power Tower for only £25 so can't complain! Couldn't get a G-REX so had to go Mediocre, sorry, Mediator

Steve.

My ACA 1230 are a 42MHZ 68EC30 with 64MB and get arround 9.02 Mips in Sysinfo with Turbo mode activate. not bad not bad... but get Hot in this mode I have A laptop Cooler base and perfect then without I get crash in 30 minutes or abobe, in normal mode 8.8 mips and no hot.

I had to do little timing Fix to solve problems in some A1200 Rev´s

I buy the Clock chip and battery for this ACA but never work

well thanks to all for the comments specially for you Fitsteve

All the best
