Introduce myself/Some questions

Hello,

I'm from Germany. I'm 35 years old and I love the good old times with the Commodore AMIGA.

I have downloaded the actual WINUAE 2.3.2 and a few games. But I have trouble with some games: First they do not start or I get the Guru-Message. Winter-Games as an example, doesn't run after a competition?

Who can helps..

Many thanks in advance..

Hi TimeBandit and welcome to EAB!

You need to be (way) more specific. List the games that won't run and if you can also the CRC checksum for the ADF (I assume you use ADFs). Also list which quickstart you tried.

If game is very old (1986-87): try KS 1.2, 0.5M chip only, no extra disk drives.

Hi,

thank you guys..

Winter Games: in the game-play from biathlon the pc is frozen (by shooting)!

arachnophobia is frozen, too in the game-play

asterix_op.hinkelstein
When I start the game: GURU #81000005.0005A972

The three stoges: The boot of the game starts over again

My settings are only:
Floppy 400%
1.3 ROM, ECS Agnus, 1MB RAM

Do you need more information?

First of all : Use quickstart (the 'most common' A500 one) instead of your own config. Also instead of setting the floppy speed to 400% use 'End + Pause' to activate warp mode for the loading times and use 100% floppy speed instead. Press the combination again to deactivate the warp mode.

Do you see any cracktros with your versions of those games (would help to test your version here) ?

Hello guys :-)

I can't understand it, but you are right?!?!

Asterix is running with your description with quickstart.

The three stogas always the same!

But I can't understand this? It's so a modern emulator...! And I wish to save my settings with the disk-sound of the AMIGA. And I want to hurry up the disk-speed!!!

And I will not to got to the time, where I have only one floppy drive and the speed from the year 1989?!?!

Have I done something fundamentally wrong?

PS: It came from the desert.. I have so many problems with the mouse?! What can I do?

TimeBandit

PS: Winter-Games is still stoped on biathlon!? with your settings!!

There is nothing wrong. Most old Amiga games only work on Amiga hardware configuration it was originally made for, even change in RAM size or number of floppy drives can break them.

Use "A500 most common" with best compatibility. Some really old games do not work memory expansion (most common effect is noise instead of music or missing or crap instead of graphics), then select 0.5M chip only version of above configuration.

Emulation does not magically make badly programmed games to work with incompatible hardware. (It would not be an emulation anymore and there are programs that only work because they do stupid things...)

Use any available winuae frontend if you don't want to care about configurations or whdload if you want fast loading (without using "warp mode").
