A4000 with CF IDE Adapter Help!

OK, I have been meaning to ask about this for ages!

I have two A4000 systems - one 030 and one 040. I want to sell these, but I know bugger all about 'big box' Amiga systems, and don't want to offer them for sale until I can work out if they are working properly!

I bought one of those CF whdload sets from eBay - mainly for my A1200 which I will be keeping - I have fitted it, and it all works beautifully!

I thought that getting the same 8GB card working on the 4000 would be a simple job of fitting the correct CF IDE adapter, and slotting in the card - after all, it works fine on my A1200, right?

Well... No! I have managed to get both A4000 to recognise it, but I have to have the system boot workbench from a floppy drive, then I can see the same icon layout from the CF as on the A1200, but nothing works, as I guess it loads the whdload stuff when it autoboots at startup.

So... How can I get either of my A4000 to 'see' this card at startup, and boot from it the same way the A1200 does? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Paul

Are the cards showing in the early startup menu?
If selected, can you boot from it? or do you just get the prompt 1>.
