Universal Monsters - most complete version???
Heya guys,
Just trying to work out which version of Universal Monsters is the most complete to use in my WinUAE collection... I know that there is the following available: a) Cover disk - The One Amiga 53 (Feb 1993), which also comes with the "Superhero" demo. b) A beta version - apparently these are the ADFs available in TOSEC. I've read through all of the following threads: ... aGTW Update: Universal Monsters http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=17001 ... Universal Monsters http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=22635 ... Universal Monsters http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=27476 ... Universal Monsters Demo http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=28461 ... Universal Monsters - complete story? http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=44397 ... Amiga Games That Weren't !! What is it? http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=11053 ... Amiga Lore - Universal Monsters http://www.abime.net/games/view/game/id/1813 Also, HOL states "Game finished and reviewed but not found / released"... Tried taking a look at both a) and b) via Directory Opus v4.12CU. I'm unable to view the contents of the TOSEC ADFs as they are NDOS. I can view the contents of the cover disk but the file "UniversalMonsters" is very small indeed: The cover disk has sound and seems more complete (extra screens before play starts) but with such a small filesize So back to the original question; which version is most complete? |

This is only DOS loader, data are stored as NDOS.
You can compare game DIR, if exists, can be at begining, first or second track. |

Cheers for the info Don
Since being home I've undertaken more investigation; there are definitely some hidden folders / files on the cover disk that relate to Universal Monsters. They just don't show up in Directory Opus... The version on the cover disk "one53_1993_02_d2.adz" is definitely more complete that the .ADFs available in TOSEC Anyway; I have written somewhere on EAB previously about my disliking for more than 1 game on an .ADF and I try to avoid these disks if possible... ...so I've created 2 separate .ADFs from "The One Amiga 53 (Feb 1993) - Disk B" .ADF so that each game is separate and launches straight into the action Both .ADFs are now in The Zone! a) Superhero (19xx)(Psygnosis)[The One - Issue 53 - Feb 1993][demo].zip b) Universal Monsters (1993)(Ocean)[The One Amiga - Feb 1993][demo].zip |
